Vortex has some cheaper lightweight tri pods.
There a lot out there available from cheapos to a ton of money. In my experience you get what you pay for.
My step son just got back from Montana and they didn’t find much either.
The locals were saying they got 28” of snow during that big storm and that caused the elk to move through the country much earlier then usual. Maybe that was the same reason in Colorado?
I was going to go with the 6.5 PRC but settled on the 28 Nosler.

No Nikon for me either.
I have Leupold, Vortex and now mostly Sig Sauer.
I think that the bigger calibers are too much for Nikon. I did have a Nikon on a 223 AR and it was just fine.
My daughters biggest deer so far. The pack out wasn’t a real tough one but she went through a lot of highs and lows. On the way out we stopped to look at the country we were in and my step son took this photo of us.
