This is the terrain I always hunted in. I never did catch up to a big buck there but they were there....I miss hunting it.

PA sells OTC archery and rifle deer tags. Go to gamelands #57 after it snows and track you up a big buck. Truth be told, I'm not steering you in the wrong direction. There are in fact big bucks on that game lands if your up for the challenge.

Some of the pictures dates are wrong but these are all of the bucks from 2021 so far. I suspect I may see some more newcominers in the next month since I have the late season groceries.

Yes, they hurt and the pain lasts. It took me 10 years to get over missing a buck when I was 17 years old. lol Simply put, I made a poor last minute decision in the tree and it cost me big time. lol I still have random nightmares about that deer.....He was a true PA giant. I did get a fist...

Typically it’s about 12 months. I killed that deer in September and it was one of this guys first deer this year. So it was done quick. He did my kids first buck and did a great job.

Daylight to dark sits for 7 days straight then I sit in the rain all day to miss what I consider an "easy shot" at the biggest buck I have had a shot at in 20 years and I miss and shoot a tree.....I was "slightly less sour" than my wife expected me to be. lol I love hunting but I hate waiting. lol

The hair has fallen out of the ears completely. Or he scraped it off.....Not sure which. He simply painted the exposed skin pink. I killed the deer in early September so I would assume that the "new hair" had just started growing and that might have caused it to slip during his tanning...

If it makes you feel any better I missed that good buck I killed this year the day before....I looked for a half hour for blood and all I found was this VVV....Best I could tell when I looked back at the treestand from the mark on the tree is that I had made contact with a limb somewhere...
