This morning the Dolores River was running dirty and a little high for several days ago. Must have got quite a bit of rain in the San Juans.

Thats all I got where I am, but we were in Cortez last evening for dinner (5 miles away) and it poured. Also the mountains got lots of rain.

A lot depends on where I'm hunting. In an area that I am familiar with, usually the later the better. Conditions change over the summer, especially water availability. I have scouted antelope in July and went back in September and conditions had completely changed. It also depends on the animal...

I drew my either sex elk tag too!

I also received the email, but it was because they couldn't get my CC to go thru! I will probably get the same one again for my elk tag....LOL!

It means you are in the draw. They havn't done the elk draw yet, it's usually last.

I got my first choice on deer. Last year I would have been in the pool of 50% of the applicants drew. I added one for this year and drew, but don't know about where my points fell into the pool. Looks like little or no point creep in the unit I applied for.

No action on my draw....no new points and no tag. Seems a little early, usually the results are posted towards the end of the week.

I am not against really great figured wood stocks. I have 3 rifles and 3 shotguns with really great wood on them. On my .300, if I fall or drop the rifle and hit the stock, the composite is really not damaged. I have also had a stock that the forend warped after 10 years of hunting when I hunted...
