WGFD license proposals 2022, big cuts to Antelope.

In the areas I hunt antelope I have noticed a gradual decline in the number of animals and especially does & fawns. I am thinking the extended drought has really effected their habitat.

WGFD license proposals 2022, big cuts to Antelope.

I have posted here before that in the last 5 years I have seen a big decline in antelope number in the units I usually hunt. The proposed cuts in tags reflect that the biologists and wardens are doing their jobs.

Wyoming Passes 90/10: The Worst Article You’ll Read This Year - by Guy Eastman

Spot on buddy! One thing I've learned during my 80 years on this good earth is that people don't like change. You want to get them riled up, just change something that they have taken for granted and enjoyed for years. I was not a Marine, but I like what they say....adapt & overcome!

    Antlers are Dropping

The last week or so, I have seen 7 or 8 bucks at my place running around with one antler. It is time.

    Western Colorado Snowpack Conditions

Just paid my irrigation bill and it looks like we are going to get between 90 & 100% of our normal allotment. I n 2 weeks we will get 4 days of stock water so we can fill our stock ponds.

    Binoculars Autofocus

I have a telescope that I do used occasionally. Lucky down here in SW Colorado to have great skies with little ground light. I also have an AP on my phone that identifies what stars and galaxies I am looking at, just point the phone at the sky. Kinda cool.

    Alliant RL26 Powder

If you can find a website that will backorder some , I'd do it. The trouble is that when they put you on "notify me when it comes in" the item usually is gone in 5 minutes or less.

Wyoming Passes 90/10: The Worst Article You’ll Read This Year - by Guy Eastman

The price of resident tags would be raised a bunch, maybe double or triple what they are today. If Colorado had no non resident monies, the residential cost of all licenses, tags and parks cost would go out of sight. I lived in California all of my life until I retired and moved to Colorado in...

Wyoming Passes 90/10: The Worst Article You’ll Read This Year - by Guy Eastman

Well millions of people must have flunked 3rd grade math, they buy lottery tickets every week! As a resident you have your opinions and I have mine as a nonresident. Wyoming is flunking Hunter Relations 101.

Wyoming Passes 90/10: The Worst Article You’ll Read This Year - by Guy Eastman

I don't have any idea how much you have invested in sheep points in all the states that have hunts, but I am sure it would be enough for a nice down payment on an Alaskan or Canadian sheep hunt. As far as Eastman articles, IMHO they have to do something to get our attention to a situation that...

Wyoming Passes 90/10: The Worst Article You’ll Read This Year - by Guy Eastman

I agree with lots of what has been written, but the real problem is the people who have been buying points for years. They got punched in the gut. Lets say someone is 35 years old and has 10 to 15 sheep points in the bank. They probably won't draw a tag and get a chance to hunt a ram until they...

Wyoming Passes 90/10: The Worst Article You’ll Read This Year - by Guy Eastman

I an sure glad I hunted Wyoming in the "good" days in the past 45 years. I don't have any points for the Big 5, but do for deer and antelope. If Wyoming goes to a 90/10 tag allocation for deer, elk and antelope, I may never get to hunt there again. I am 80 years old now and guess I will benefit...

Wyoming antelope advice for family hunt

Yep it happened to me a couple of years ago. I applied for a NR deer tag and went special to make sure I got it. I didn't draw because the number of applicants for the special was way high that year. If I had applied for the regular tag, I would have drawn it.

Wyoming antelope advice for family hunt

Before you apply for the special tag (costs a lot more $$), check the history of the unit draw. I have found that sometimes a unit will take more points than a regular tag or you can draw the regular tag with less points than the special. Just sayin................

What Is Your Go To Hunting Knife?

I separated this into 2 posts. These 2 are knives I made. The first is a skinner with a gut hook that I made from a power hack saw blade. The second one is a knife that I made to carry on my gun belt when I am cowboy shooting. I also made the leather sheath. It has an elk antler handle. I have...

What Is Your Go To Hunting Knife?

I have two that I really like and have been using them for years. I have a folding Kershaw Black Gulch that I have used for gutting for probably 30 years. I also have a custom skinner w/gut hook that was custom made to my specs by Mark Wahlster (Silverton, Or) about 40 years ago that is the best...

    Western Colorado Snowpack Conditions

Just looked at the current snowpack conditions for western Colorado (west of I-25) and things are pretty encouraging. From a low of 82% of normal to a high of 105%, with SW Colorado at 95%. The latest storm was pretty wet and things look good for this year. It will taken several more years just...
