Draw Process Working Group Recommendations on Primary Draw Methods & Preference Points

How do you know that residents would not be able to fill all the type A tags? Lots of residents only apply for point when they know they don't have enough points to draw what they want.....I am one of them! The new secondary draw is taking care of tags that are not drawn. I applied for 4 each...

Draw Process Working Group Recommendations on Primary Draw Methods & Preference Points

First we are not talking about HUNTING LICENSES, we are talking about big game tags! Recount and tell me the difference. I don't think that the DIY western hunters have turned against one another and a handful of unwanted tags. Each state has "a handful of WANTED big game tags that are in high...

Draw Process Working Group Recommendations on Primary Draw Methods & Preference Points

Well said Dave. I too moved here when I retired 24 years ago for the hunting, fishing and rural living. I only wish I could have done it sooner. I hunt out of state and gladly pay more to do it. I really have problems with the unlimited OTC bull elk tags that CPW issues for 2nd & 3rd season. I...

Draw Process Working Group Recommendations on Primary Draw Methods & Preference Points

Maybe something like 2 points for second and one for third choice. I am old enough to remember when there was no draw and 2 seasons (one early for Coastal , one late for Inland) in California where I grew up and started hunting. The seasons were over a month long. Then they started managing...

Draw Process Working Group Recommendations on Primary Draw Methods & Preference Points

I am totally against using point for anything other than 1st choice. If I was young, it would make a difference. I still use my first choice for points building points for future draws. I use second and sometimes third choice for alternate choices. I still know a few areas that i can draw as 2nd...

    Decisions, decisions...

You should give Garvey Bros Outfitting a call. They hunt in 61 and in the past have answered some questions I had about elk hunting in 61. They hunt deer too.

Montana man pleads guilty after creating giant hybrid sheep and selling them for captive hunting: DOJ

I have seen pictures on some of the whitetail breeders sites that the animals racks are huge! If one of those gets away or is shot on a fenced ranch and submitted for a new record, how does B & CD or P&Y tell if it's from the wild population?

    Rifle stock grips / angles?

I used to make stocks (made about 200 of them, both shotgun & rifle) and everyone is different. If you like the feel of a particular style and shoot enough, muscle memory will take over. What you really have to watch out for is what you need to work with you thumb or a finger. I built a...

Possible Look into Colorado's Elk Hunting

I quit hunting muzzle loading BP because of way too many archery hunters. Just sayin...............

    Colorado Big Game Applications

NR tags are getting really expensive for sure. My hunting buddies and I were going to apply for group tags in Wyoming (we are from Colorado, California & Arizona). We are a little shy for regular NR deer tags, but can draw the Special NR deer tags based on last years stats. But they are over...

    Getting Started Elk Hunting

I assume you have never applied for elk in any state and you have no preference points. You should select a state where you can buy an over the counter tag.....no waiting for accumulating any points to start with. I live in Colorado (as does JimP who posted also) and our state has a lot of OTC...

    CPW

The Governor nominates the board and confirmed by the legislature. I have contacted my representatives and the committee holding the confirmation hearing. This isn't the first time the Gov has nominated people who are really not qualified or opposed to hunting/fishing.

    Colorado Big Game Applications

I am passing on Wyoming this year. The only tag I could probably draw is the NR Special Antelope and I am not paying the price Wyoming has set for this tag, It's way, way overpriced!! I'll wait until I get a few more points and can draw a regular NR tag.

    Colorado Big Game Applications

Today is March 1 and you can start applying for big game licenses. I applied for deer, elk & antelope, hope I am lucky. My deer & antelope are 50/50, elk is good.
