    Opening The Can Of Worms...Coronavirus...

I am sure that there are likely millions of us who have or had the Civid-19 virus and either didn't know it or thought it was the flu. 24 of us went to Idaho for a week long snowmobile outing. About 8 of us flew (mostly from MN, one from Fla.), and the rest drove. We stayed in two large...

pump action 12 ga versus 45-70 lever rifle for alaskan bear defense

Thanks AK for the clarification. We are always asked at the border if we have Mace or bear spray. Just like when they used to ask if we had any potatoes...if we did have real taters (instead of processed ones), they were forfeited. It is kind of silly that they don't allow a 1-3 oz. can of...

Social Distancing - What's Everyone Doing?

You can't drive into Canada from the US with "Mace" or bear spray. I don't know if it is available for non-residents to buy there either. I can see why airlines, both big and small have restrictions on flying with a pressurized bomb. It might kill the Coronavirus though.

Social Distancing - What's Everyone Doing?

I'm taking my wife out to dinner today for her birthday. I was able to make reservations at the finest restaurant that is still open, "Rick's Crab Shack." Yup, that mean's we're not traveling anywhere, but it'll be fine eating.

pump action 12 ga versus 45-70 lever rifle for alaskan bear defense

In the bears defense, if you have a gun in your hand during a "bluff charge', then you are likely to use it. I have been charged three times by black bears, the first time I was 17, and had a .357 on my hip. Dead bear, shot at 5'. The other two came close to that distance...close enough to...

pump action 12 ga versus 45-70 lever rifle for alaskan bear defense

Buckshot would seem to be a fabulous deterant but the reality is that it is unlikely to penetrate through the scull or through to the vitals in the chest cavity. Hard cast slugs in my opinion. A very good friend of mine was guiding two 70 yr. old bow hunters for moose in the Wyoming Range...

    Opening The Can Of Worms...Coronavirus...

The quickest way to end this latest "pandemic" is to do nothing. Soon, just about everyone will get it, and the survivors will have the antibodies to avoid a reoccurrence. It's like vaccination....if enough folks get them, the few that don't have little chance of getting the specific illness...

Anyone on the forum manufacturing euro hangers?

Dan; Only in the UP (up north), or in some of the hard care "Good Old Boy" regions of the south could you do something like that in church. If it wasn't so far, I'd sign up as a member. God gave us dominion over the animals.. to care for them, respect them, and at some point to eat them.

    Help with unit

No suggestion as to units, but you may want to consider making a deal with your hunting partner (especially if you are the older guy with the most points). Apply separately for tags in the same unit & season. If only one draws, then both commit to the hunt. After that the role will reverse...

I will do that. I just started the stripping process yesterday, and will have enough for a progress report w/photos in a few days.

I see why you mentioned sand bags as an option. If you are in SA right now, are they going to let you come back anytime soon?

Cabin Build - Timeline with lots of pics.

Nice project. I built a guest cabin that we spray foamed, and after 7 years it is still 100% mouse proof. Those little buggers can chew their way through most things, but they don't like that foam. My guess is that if there isn't a hole to slither through, then you shouldn't have snakes either.

I got another pickup truck, and am starting to build a cedar strip topper for it. I made one out of northern white cedar for my 2011 Dodge RAM. This one will be eastern red cedar (AKA Aromatic cedar) for the 2011 GMC. These are "strip" construction, just like building a canoe, and will be...

    Opening The Can Of Worms...Coronavirus...

Kid: Ref. your question about the run on T.P. when this isn't a crapping type flu. When you self-isolate or quarantine you don't want to run out if you can't get to the store every few days. Farmers will never run out as long as they have corn cobs.

I am prepared for the Zombie-Apocolypse, but this got me by the shorts. Sort of reminds me of one of my fathers favorite poems; "When in trouble, when in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout. Luckily for my wife and I that we had already figured out that we don't need a "bug-out kit", since...
