Do you have any points? If not, then it changes the equation and you have to look for an outfitter with landowner tags, or greatly limits your options.

Congrats to your wife.....that shot looks perfect if it was a straight thru. I made a similar shot once from a deer stand and the downward angle worked against me, so I try to aim a bit higher when a similar situation occurs. Nice follow-up.

Just make sure that anyone who plans to hunt with you buys points also, as your points are averaged if you apply together as a party. Even just one or two points gives you more options when you do apply for tags, as many of the easy to draw with 0 points areas have access issues.

Here is a pic of me shortly after a bear attack in the spring of 2011. Well, not really, as it was just makeup during my Wilderness First Responder (WFR) training.

This was a tough pack out. After a 6 1/2 hour pack into camp, I decided to spike out further from our base, leaving my hunt partners to hold down the fort. My spike was only 1/3 mile from camp, but 1,300 ft. higher. Shot this buck at 7:10am the next morning. Not my biggest buck, but...

Spend 9 days up on the mountain in WY this fall, and passed on a 4x4 for the first time as I was holding out for one bigger than those pictured below. Didn't happen. Still had a great time and will keep on trying.
