    Ammunition shortage

Our shooting club has it's yearly gun show starting tomorrow and over the weekend. I'll get a good idea what's out there. I'm selling primers for $150.00 per brick (1,000).

    WGFD Proposed Changes

I really think both. Fewer hunters and more animals. At least in the area I hunted. I only hunted a small part of Wyoming so I can't say for the rest of the state.

    Colorado 21 quota changes

To bad they don't break the quotas down to the season level instead of just all the rifle season lumped together.

    WGFD Proposed Changes

That's a fact! When I first started hunting Wyoming 50 years ago, you could buy type 6 doe/fawn antelope & deer tags over the counter in lots of retail stores statewide. If I remember correctly, we could buy up to 6 type 6 tags for deer AND antelope for $5.00 or $6.00 bucks. That is addition...

    Bear Gun?

Usually just my rifle, except if I'm in Griz country. When I went on a Thorofare Hunt, I carried bear spray and a S & W .44 mag.

    Thoughts on Suppressors for Hunting?

Not for me. Pretty ugly and I really have a problem with the feds and their rules on suppressors.

    Muley or cross with whitetail?

I remember reading something about mixed breeding a few years back. If I remember correctly, other than tissue/DNA sampling, the biologists look at the musk glands on the rear legs. Seems like I remember them writing that the glands are different from both breeds.

    Local Shooting Range Situation

The land was (and basically IS) not improved. No water or power. Had to do all the "improvements" (grading, berms, gravel, concrete, fencing) ourselves. Most state owned land here in Colorado is not "improved".

    Local Shooting Range Situation

The Executive Committee (I am a member) is considering how we can deal with the situation. Luckily we have several years before a new lease will be in effect.

Maintenance & repairs on our indoor & outdoor ranges, utilities, Insurance, All overhead and not cheap. Insurance is almost $7,000 per year. We also have a Junior Shooting program where we supply all guns, ammo, and equipment for 30 kids who shoot competitively statewide. (The club pays for...

    Local Shooting Range Situation

All the state land leases funds the Best Program, which is a state funded school improvement program. The state legislature wants more money for schools, so this is an area to get it. Also found out our "recreational" lease is low priority and if someone else wants the land, we could be in a...

    Local Shooting Range Situation

Down here in the 4 Corners area of SW Colorado there are not very many shooting ranges. It is a pretty rural with lots of open land. Our area has a great shooting club and range ($ Corners Rifle & Pistol Club / 4cornersrifleandpistol.co) with over 500 members. Check out our webpage. We are...

When did you kill your first deer?

When I was 12 in 1954 in California. Notice it was a neck shot at about 75 yards with iron sights. Guess I started out pretty lucky!

Best Way to Sharpen a Knife

I use a couple of different things for keeping an edge on my knives. To start the process, I use a traditional whetstone with cutting oil. The oil keeps the stone from filling up with the residue I take off the knife. Once the knife has the edge I want, I use a Smith's edge "refresher". It...
