Gutless most of the time. Bone out if the packout is long to save weight, if mid to short distance bone in for ease of maneuvering.

No matter what, this will just be a plain fun hunt. Having the guide available to help take care of the animal will be great! Enjoy the hunt and I have never had a bad tasting elk. Only mistake that I have made with elk is not letting it thaw on it's own, that is the only time it gets tough.

For the record guys, if you want to get Ike's attention on this forum....post something about antelope. They are far and away his favorite to hunt.
