    Alaskan Wolf

A nice solo wolf in Atigun Pass. I'm sure he was hunting Dall Sheep. Perfectly prime but I couldn't take him at the time.

    Arctic Grizzly

I thought I'd add a photo of an Arctic Grizzly, since bear season is fast approaching! This guy is a big bear for that area! North slope area a couple years ago.

    Draw results are in!

The drawing hunt results are in for Alaska. My son and I got Brown Bear permits in a good area on Kodiak Island for the spring of 2015 and he got an "any bull moose" tag west of Anchorage for this fall. I hope you all draw well this year also! :)

    Cameras

What camera gear are you all using? I do more off-season camera "hunting" than I do in-season gun hunting. Cameras are easier to pack than moose and I enjoy watching the wildlife all year long. I can photograph year-around and generally don't have to draw the tag! When I hunt, I carry a...

    Local moose

This guy and another one of equal size have been hanging around the airport. It's fun to go watch and photograph them. I didn't put one in the freezer this year, I'll have to work at it harder next year. I love seeing them though.

    More moose near Anchorage

I saw these bulls and cow while hiking near Anchorage this morning. Fun to watch. The cow is moaning and the bulls are interested but I didn't see her bred. The two bigger bulls never sparred but had no love for each other.

    What's is your gameroom?

Just curious, what do you all have in your "Trophy rooms"? I have a few things other than these but some are out in the yard or in the crawlspace under the house. I hope you all add to them this coming season...good hunting!

    Baiting Grizzlies

Alaska has recently opened a few area to baiting of Grizzly/Brown Bears. The black bear bait hunters were complaining that the grizzlies would move in on their stands and keep the black bear away. They were making some grizzlies pretty fat from dog food and doughnuts! The only caveat is that...

    338-06

I bought a 338-06 that I've been coveting lately. Anybody here have a "Pet Load" for this caliber? I'm looking forward to working with it and trying it out on a moose this fall. It replaces my all time favorite moose gun, a 35 Whelen.

    Bad start

The majority of the drawing results in Alaska were posted yesterday, I got lots of calls from friends that got permits. My family and I got a total of....0! :( Oh well, we have plenty of general season opportunities to take advantage of. I sure would like to draw a muskox tag some year...

    Wolf attack

There is an interesting article in the Fairbanks Daily News Miner. A man on a snowmachine was recently attacked and bitten by a wolf near Tok Alaska. The wolf got away after a brief but scary fight, so it's unknown if it was rabid. It's a worthwhile read. Check it out!
