Interesting thoughts... I too think the term has developed a negative aura but I also think it's part of the natural progression most hunters go through. First you just want to get something, anything really. You need success to affirm your attempts. Then it usually turns into a numbers game...

Use your pack for a rear rest! Took me awhile to consistently do this and boy howdy does it make a difference!

That's the thing... probation doesn't work, suspension of hunting rights doesn't work... the serious poachers are criminals, plain and simple! I'm not talking about folks shooting an extra cow elk to feed the family when they are truly in need, or someone accidentally killing one too many ducks...

I agree wholeheartedly on every count! Growing up in the U.P. poaching was rampant.

That's interesting. I've dropped my calories to 2030 per day and that's about as low as I can go and not want to strangle somebody! I cannot imagine 1200-1300. Why so few calories?
