The Curious Case of Idaho’s Disappearing Deer & Elk

Yes it is, sounds even better now. If I bother to write it, best to just start taking notes.

The Curious Case of Idaho’s Disappearing Deer & Elk

You do realize what the hypothesis was for the Bitterroot study right?

The Curious Case of Idaho’s Disappearing Deer & Elk

Yeah, the last groups I would trust from the Bitterroot study funded by the following groups and I don't find them biased. This project was funded with revenue from the sale of Montana hunting and fishing licenses, as well as matching funds from Federal Aid in Wildlife Restoration grant to the...

    Fuel prices affect

Fuel prices aren't even anything I consider...can't even tell you how much fuel was for sure the last time I filled up. I want to go places that take fuel, I just buy it and hit the road.

The Curious Case of Idaho’s Disappearing Deer & Elk

Another real gem of an article...heavy on everything but facts. Lion mortality is the leading cause of elk calf mortality in the Bitterroot: Calf survival was largely driven by mountain lion predation, indicating that management actions aimed at reducing mountain lions densities may result in...

WGFD license proposals 2022, big cuts to Antelope.

Tag cuts for pronghorn in many areas are 2-5 years too late. Recovery is going to take 4-10 years...depending on conditions. Some areas may take longer because they won't eliminate doe/ fawn tags. My wife and I will apply for 2 doe/ fawn tags each and throw them away again.

Wyoming Passes 90/10: The Worst Article You’ll Read This Year - by Guy Eastman

No you don't have to live to be 120...apply smartly and you're in for a chance every year. Pulled this tag in a preference state that I had 11 points for, some savvy the drawings and some don't. I applied for 11 years smartly, putting in for areas with random tags in AZ and hit pay dirt. Others...

Wyoming Passes 90/10: The Worst Article You’ll Read This Year - by Guy Eastman

I testified in favor of making the big-5 once in a lifetime to anyone under the 5 year waiting period. Removing myself from ever drawing another sheep tag in Wyoming. Funny way of only caring about myself.... Maybe its I just support State's rights to manage wildlife as they see fit and I'd...

Wyoming Passes 90/10: The Worst Article You’ll Read This Year - by Guy Eastman

No its not being taken away, there is still a chance to draw...and that's a fact. Actually, the only one that matters.

Wyoming Passes 90/10: The Worst Article You’ll Read This Year - by Guy Eastman

So the wolves ate all the sheep? That's why sheep tags have went from over 400 in the 1980's to less than 200 last year? So moose permits dropped from over 2000 in the early 80's to less than 400 last year? All predators? Try that information age thing...winter ticks, brain worm, and climate...

Wyoming Passes 90/10: The Worst Article You’ll Read This Year - by Guy Eastman

You got lucky, because you had NO way of knowing who was going to apply from what pools. There was an equally good chance that nobody in your point pool would draw and you would have been in the 1%. I have hundreds of examples of odds declining for decades...if your odds were improving, nobody...

Wyoming Passes 90/10: The Worst Article You’ll Read This Year - by Guy Eastman

Do they? I think its misleading marketing...we're spending more, and more and more on management and getting no increase in populations and permits. Sounds like bait and switch.

Wyoming Passes 90/10: The Worst Article You’ll Read This Year - by Guy Eastman

Here's what's predictable...your odds of drawing ANY tag in ANY state is never going to better than the current year you're applying. No matter the species, state, or point totals. Been a fact for every tag in every state I've applied in for the last 41 years.

Wyoming Passes 90/10: The Worst Article You’ll Read This Year - by Guy Eastman

Yeah, right, because nobody knows how many sheep and moose tags are issued and the raw numbers of applicants. https://wgfd.wyo.gov/WGFD/media/content/PDF/Hunting/TOTAL_PREF_POINTS_MS.pdf Its almost as if we live in the days of horse and buggy...and that every lick of information for every...

Wyoming Passes 90/10: The Worst Article You’ll Read This Year - by Guy Eastman

So when moose or sheep or deer populations have been dropping...and fewer tags issued now than 20 years ago...is that still bait and switch? I mean when I started applying for sheep 🐏 n Wyoming in 1999, they were issuing 100+ more tags than now. My odds did not improve with fewer tags I...

Wyoming Passes 90/10: The Worst Article You’ll Read This Year - by Guy Eastman

That sounded great in 2010 until tag numbers were slashed and cow moose permits were all but gone in a majority of the state. There was also not only 1247 applicants for 100 moose in 2010...every applicant is considered...depends on which point pools the tags were drawn from as well as the...

Right, improves your odds of eventually drawing...doesn't guarantee you anything other than improved odds. Pretty plain and easily understood language.

Wyoming Passes 90/10: The Worst Article You’ll Read This Year - by Guy Eastman

Sure they would, I buy points every year to either just increase my odds, or more than likely, just to assure my odds are not any worse. I have purchased exactly zero points under the assumption of a guaranteed tag...because the reality is, points do not assure me a tag. And I have a pile of...

Wyoming Passes 90/10: The Worst Article You’ll Read This Year - by Guy Eastman

Totally disagree and there has never been a guarantee of a tag since LQ started in any State. You're making a claim that never has existed, in particular regarding any kind of point systems where the number of tags is so out of balance with applicant numbers. In particular when future quota's...
