Is Wyoming Game and Fish discriminating against early season archers in Snowy Range fire area?

If we don't get snowed out, we have plenty of time. We're committed to finding a good bull this year...just don't like that G&F has not given us the same options as others.

Is Wyoming Game and Fish discriminating against early season archers in Snowy Range fire area?

You really can't hunt the edges of the fire because the closure area is much bigger than the fire area. We sat in our vehicle on Highway 130 and watched bulls walking around on Libby Flats...but we couldn't hunt them because they were in the closure area...even though they were a long way from...

Is Wyoming Game and Fish discriminating against early season archers in Snowy Range fire area?

We have contacted G&F and the Governor's Office and asked them to offer a refund or carryover to all hunters in limited quota areas impacted by the fire for moose, deer and elk. We believe the fair policy is to offer these options to all hunters in those areas because their hunt has been limited...

Is Wyoming Game and Fish discriminating against early season archers in Snowy Range fire area?

They are requiring you to sign an affidavit that you have not hunted. But it seems likely that some people would lie about it.

Is Wyoming Game and Fish discriminating against early season archers in Snowy Range fire area?

In Wyoming, in most units, you are allowed to hunt both archery and rifle with the same license. It is common for people to "dabble" with archery with the anticipation of going rifle hunting if archery doesn't produce.

Is Wyoming Game and Fish discriminating against early season archers in Snowy Range fire area?

Fire is raging in the southern Snowy Range. Wyoming Game and Fish has offered hunters the option of a refund or carrying over their license until next year IF they had not hunted with that license. But the "IF" part seems unfair. The notice sent by Game and Fish on September 23rd offered a...

    Snowy Range Moose Scouting

We have a travel trailer and will be staying close to where we plan to hunt. Love the trailer. We spend about 40 nights a year in it.

    Snowy Range Moose Scouting

My 70 year old wife is not capable of shooting a compound bow. But we have been practicing with a crossbow and she's deadly :) So, we'll try to get one with a bow and if that doesn't work we'll turn to a rifle on October 1st.

    Snowy Range Moose Scouting

My wife drew a Wyoming Snowy Range bull moose tag. We made three scouting trips in late July and August...one to the north end, one in the middle and one to the south end. The trips produced 10 moose in the north, 9 moose in the middle and 5 in the south. Unfortunately, none were quite big...

    Dry?

Southeast Wyoming has been not too bad until a few weeks ago. It is now powder dry in the low country...a little better in the high country!

What would be your dream hunt?

My favorite species is elk (has been and probably always will be). But this year my wife drew a Snowy Range bull moose tag. I'm really looking forward to that...a premier unit with a two and half month season and only 100 miles from home. Doesn't get much better than that!

    Wyoming Left-Over Draw Results

I'm confused. How is it possible to pick up a 100-1 any elk tag in the left over draw? There were way more applicants than tags in the original draw.

    Just saw this

Good point. So how about a hunting/fishing license OR an inexpensive separate permit?

    Just saw this

I agree. A separate permit would be better. If a nonresident comes to Colorado and wants to visit state land while not hunting, he/she will have to buy an expensive nonresident hunting or fishing license. How about a $10 or $20 annual permit required for all users regardless of resident or...

    Laramie Wyoming activities

You should take time to see the Snowy Range. It is very different than the open country where you'll be hunting antelope. The Snowy Range offers great sight seeing, fishing, ATVing etc. But be careful, the first significant snow of the year often falls in mid to late October.

    WY Draw Results Antelope/Deer/Elk (Residents)

Struck out on elk, but my wife drew a Snowy Range bull moose tag earlier...so pretty happy!

    Wyoming Unit 100-6 Cow Hunt

Rock Springs would be a closer than Rawlins for the elk hunt. Better yet, camp out in the desert. It's a great place to camp.

    Big 3 draw

A moose hunting we will go!! My wife drew a Snowy Range Bull Moose tag with 24 preference points. We've been looking forward to this hunt for many years!
