    Knee Replacement Surgery

Actually both. I have enough points to possibly draw an antelope tag, which I applied for. Easy hunt that I am sure I will be able to do. Points for the rest. Also points in Wyoming. I could draw in Wy, but with the bad winter, I'll skip it this year. Considering a Texas pig/deer hunt too.

    Knee Replacement Surgery

I was in one for 2 weeks after the replacement. When I fell and tore the quad tendon, they put me in a brace to keep my knee from bending at all so the tendon can heal.

    Knee Replacement Surgery

Had my 6 weeks appointment with my surgeon yesterday and he is pleased. He changed my PT and I can start to work on bending my knee to 45 degrees. Still have to wear the brace for another 6 weeks. I am also walking a mile (with the brace on) almost every day, weather permitting.

    Memories of Hunts Past

I used to make knives and pistol grips and I used almost all my elk horns for handles, scales and grips.

    Memories of Hunts Past

I was thinking about the same thing before your post. This fall will be my 70th year big game hunting and I definitely have some memories. I don't have a lot of mounts, but a few that are special to me. I have saved almost all the better horns from my deer and antelope, I keep them in the...

    Dolores County Colorado Hunting Accident

The Judge recommended that CP&W make some changes in the way the seasons are now structured. I am quoting the newspaper: "In January 2022, CPW staff made a policy recommendation to the Colorado Parks & Wildlife Commission that would have required archery hunters to wear fluorescent orange or...

    Dolores County Colorado Hunting Accident

The hunter who was convicted of criminally negligent homicide was sentenced last Friday here in Cortez to 90 days in jail, 12 months' state-supervised probation, $500 fine and 100 hours of community service. As a convicted felon he cannot own a firearm. The Judge also will recommend to CP&W that...

    Colorado winter kill.

My son and I went for a drive yesterday to Disappointment and Dry Creek Basin. Still some snow, but not bad. Saw lots of deer, some elk and a few antelope, a small group of Desert Bighorns and lots of turkeys. Looks pretty much like normal. This is prime winter range and the animals are there!

    Colorado winter kill.

More than normal, but a lot of has melted. The higher altitude mountain areas got a lot.

    Colorado winter kill.

I live 1/2 way between Dolores & Cortez, west of Durango. We had more snow that I have seen in many years. I am sure we have had more than our normal amount of winter kill, but still seeing quite a few deer every day. Havn't been able to up to Disappointment/Dry Creek Basin yet, a big wintering...

Another article on Wyoming's tough winter

If Wyoming F & G does their job, there will be big cuts in tags. More point will be needed if that happens. I am probable going to avoid Wyoming for a couple of years (or more).

Colorado Twin Peaks ranching for wildlife

When I was researching RFW years ago, I read every one of them and their rules. Some of them do crazy things. One of them had over 50 hunters for elk and 50 hunters for deer. They turned them all loose at the same time . The one I hunted at least divided the ranch up into areas and assigned...

Colorado Twin Peaks ranching for wildlife

There could be a lot of reasons. The RFW outfits are also contracted with an outfitter who basically runs the hunting operation. The FRW ranches also set their own seasons and all of the hunting rules in addition to state hunters rules. Maybe they got a new outfitter and he didn't want RFW#...

Grizzly delisting, will it ever happen?

Jim....you are spot on. Us old timers have seen times and have had experiences that the youngsters will never see.

    Given' Up/Cashing in my Points

I did the same thing many years ago with Unit 100 in Wyoming for elk. Could never catch up with the NR point creep. Used the point on another unit in a guided hunt and quit putting in for Wyoming NR elk.

    75-25% for Colorado

If they change and take point for OTC (and/or 2nd, 3rd or 4th choice), there will be a lot of tags unsold. Most OTC are in areas that are marginal habitat or private land.....that's why they don't get scooped up in the normal draw.

    Knee Replacement Surgery
