    Avian Flu

Talked to my Cousin and he has got Ca F&G attention. Sunday afternoon he took about 10 snows that had died on the club over to Wister Hdqtrs and left them in front of the managers house. He also contacted the Feds who also have an office there.

    September? WTF

I hear you! I got married (58 years ago) in October. But there were good reasons for picking the date and time. The day we were married was my wife's grandparents 50 wedding anniversary, my grandfather & great grandfather's and my wife's birthday. It has brought us good luck for 58 years and I...

    Avian Flu

Just talked to my cousin in southern California about waterfowl hunting in the Salton Sea area (a prime wintering area). My cousins own my Dad's old duck club in Imperial Valley. It has great duck and goose hunting, especial snow geese. There is a big outbreak of avian flu in the snow geese...

    New Year’s whitetail hunt

Is the jaw bone from the spike you killed? The teeth are really worn, probably contributed to the antler growth. How much fat did he have? I have also seen outlandish antler growth from bucks that are stags......no cajones.

    Youngest son

I played 3 years of high school football and 3 years of college football, also 2 years of football when I was drafted in the Army. Never got hurt bad in HS (broken nose & dislocated fingers). Screwed up a knee in college and again in the service. I am 81 now and am paying for all the years of...

    Early winter in Minnesota.

Been cold down here in the 4 Corners area. Didn't get above freezing for a week, but now it is a lot warmer, was 18 last night. It has been sunny for the last 3 days. I actually sat in chair on my deck yesterday afternoon. I had a T shirt on and was barefoot enjoying the sunshine, it was 50...

How did everyone's hunt go this year is it what you expected and are you going to change your plans for next year?

Having back issues for the past several years, I had to get it fixed or probably really limit my future hunting, along with lots of other things. I had surgery in late August and recovery has been great. I drew a great elk tag here in Colorado and with the new Colorado regs concerning turning in...

    Hunting Doe

In my first post I said I have shot a lot of doe deer. Where I live here in SW Colorado it is primarily agriculture, hay, orchards and pasture, all irrigated. We have literally 100's of mule deer within a mile of my place. Every night there are 40 to 50 in my yard. I apply for a private land...

    Hunting Doe

Not all areas are the same and a lot depends on the weather. Here in the SW part of Colorado it usually starts around Thanksgiving. Not all the does get bred and some don't come into season and a second rut can start a couple of weeks later.

    Hunting Doe

A lot depends on your situation. I love to eat venison, antelope and elk, prefer it to most domestic meat. If I can't draw a tag for a male animal and my freezer is empty, I'll put in for a female tag in areas where there are surplus animals. I never take a female with a fawn either. I have shot...

    Big time Poacher Bust

Penalties were not stiff enough. They should be banned from ever owning a firearm and all of them confiscated from them. Never allowed to hunt or fish again in every state and a minimum of 10 years prison time...no parole.
