Been out a few times looking for bucks in the rut. Found a few smaller ones. This guy is biggest so far. Nice buck, but I'm a little bummed nothing bigger has turned up. Snowing today, so maybe it will bring the big guys out.

Yep, I got 'em set out already. 2 weeks now. Deer moved up early this year. I have seen little elk sign and only spotted a cow with last years calf.

Pulled my cams out yesterday. Bear and elk were only new animals, rest were photos of animals filmed earlier. Lot of smoke due to area surrounded by fires and a small fire actually inside the unit. I did spot a herd of 60 to70 elk with about a dozen bulls, all spikes except one fork. Also...

We got another good soaking in Eastern Oregon yesterday. After a couple of weeks of real heat, it was nice. More importantly the high country will stay green awhile longer = better antler development. Things were looking good early on, and now they should get even better. If we get another...
