Getting a bino harness for my Zeiss 10x42's, and like the FHF design. Wondering how it fits under a backpack like the "Cabela's Bow and Rifle Hunting Pack" Thanks, D.

Solo DYI backpack (or ATV) hunt suggestions(?)

Looking for suggestions on a solo / DIY backpack hunt. Or an ATV hunt. Background: Grew up hunting waterfowl, turkey and upland in Nebraska. Started hunting Deer when living in Missouri after college. Day trips, nothing overnight. Now back in Nebraska and still hunting Muley, turkey and...

    onXmaps for Nebraska(?)

Downloaded the "Hunt Nebraska for Basecamp" onXmap, the $50 download version. Disappointed to find I could not get to work with Google Earth. Got Garmin BaseCamp running, loaded my map...and here is my view? What am I doing wrong? Doesn't show any landowners, and the map is horribly...

    Solunar Tables...

Some of my buddies swear by Solunar Tables, some swear at them. I have so few days to hunt, it really doesn't matter to me. I'm hunting (or fishing) when I can, regardless of what the Solunar Table says. Thoughts?

Spotting scope vs. high power binocular

Posted similar thread in Mule Deer forum. I hunt Sandhills of Nebraska and looking for a spotting scope or high powered binoculars. It's public and I will be walking in, so weight is a concern. I've got Cabela's Outfitter Series 8x42 binoculars and Leica CRF 800 Rangefinder already...

    4E / EEEE hunting boots?

I've got a really, REALLY wide foot 11.5 4E / EEEE. I've got an old pair of Cabela's boots, but they don't make 4E any more. Picked up a pair of Under Armor Speed Freek Bozeman's, and have seen some Irish Setter Elk Trackers. Any other options for Gore-Tex boots for my big ass feet?

    Dragging Deer Out...

Nope. NE Game and Parks: "Quartering - The carcass may be separated into loins and quarters with the femur and scapula naturally attached, provided that the head accompanies the carcass to the check station." Wife and I have ATV'ed in Colorado, and I can't imagine pulling a sled through the...

    Dragging Deer Out...

Appreciate the feedback. I'm 49 this fall, in pretty good shape, but have some foot issues that make me shy away from packing out meat on my back. Packed caribou out while on Alaska hunt...that was rough. Once you got up you didn't want to stop, or sit down. Rough going. With the sled I...

    Dragging Deer Out...

Hunting public in Sandhills of Nebraska. Foot traffic only. Other hunters said leave the wheeled game cart at home, as the sandy soil makes it difficult to push/pull. I tried a "trophy tow all terrain transport sled." Light weight, easy to pack in, but awkward setup, not durable, kept...

    Sandhills Nebraska Muley thoughts...

Grew up in NE, but only started hunting deer after college when lived in Missouri. Back in Nebraska now and spent last five seasons running around Valentine Refuge looking for mule deer. No luck. I'm not looking for someone to share their "honey hole" or trying to internet scout. I hunt...
