And talk/planning for an economy to be reopened around the first of May in some parts of the country. Fingers crossed that this helps.

My family doesn't "need it" either but it is coming at a pretty good time for us. My wife owns a small salon and unemployment benefits have been delayed for who knows how long. On top of that, my college student son has been without work for over a month so this helps bridge the gap for a while.

Yep, my is sitting in my bank account.

I also just read where some Dims want to give everyone over the age of 16 a check for $2000 a month until this is all over.

It would be nice that when you are out of money that you could just print up some. It reminds me of my ex wife. She figured that as long as she had checks she still had money in the bank.

I'm not eligible, but I'm glad to see the system is working.

Gotta wonder though about folks (my daughter knows a couple) who are making MORE money now through stimulus checks and unemployment than they made when they were working.
Do the Dims really think that's a good idea … or necessary somehow?

Remember it’s only Socialism when someone else gets the check. Spend it wisely we will all have to pay in the future. But I don’t see any other way.
it's socialism regardless.
I do see another way. personal responsibility. pity our society no longer believes in such a thing.

It is my wife, 16 year old son, and me in the household. I had a deposit of $500.00. Did not expect to get anything. So did they pay for dependents regardless of income.
Also My 27 year old son got $1,200.00 he is in Doctorate school. That will really help him as the field camp he was instructing this summer is canceled.

I will share something an old wise and wealthy man told me many years ago.
5 keys to borrowing money.
1. Never borrow money.
2. Never borrow money when times are tough. Do with out, work more, or what ever it takes to survive.
3. Never borrow money.
4. Only time you should even consider borrowing money is in good times. And only if you can double your money.
5. Never borrow money.
Something those yahoos in Washington could benefit from.
China will own us for sure now.

You also forgot about lending money.

Never lend any money that you don't expect to get back, consider it a loss as soon as you hand it over.

On China owning us there have been some interesting conversations going on. Between law suits for this virus and with them requesting money and Trump laughing in their faces.

There in lies the biggest issue! Once it is there it won't ever stop!

Easy for me to say because i'm busy at work and in a good financial position.
Wish they would have not done the stimulus checks direct to people, or added additional cash to unemployment. Lots of people have zero interest in going back to work for less than they can sit on their a$$ for.
I do like the assisting small business to keep employees employed, giving payroll assistance I think it wased called. I know it's kind of the same thing just called something different, but it at least makes people go earn it rather than sit on their butt.
Example, my neighbor is at home getting full pay and benefits still, has all the time on the world right now. Has someone come mow his lawn.

I've been saying it for years, the next batch of millionaires will have dirt under their finger nails, everyone wants something for nothing.

Pretty sad that people make so little working 40+ hours a week, that they make more drawing unemployment.

That's the problem...

I humbly disagree. Excluding working college students, most, not all, of these folks make what they ‘want’ to earn. This is the land of opportunity. I was on my own at 17 living in an abandon house putting myself through high school. Yes, high school. I’ll spare everyone the details but, life is what you make of it. This is a nation with so many opportunities and the future is bright and unlimited. The only deterrent is fear and your own will.
I do not qualify for a stimulus check... I’m sure you can do the math.
