I was at a leadership conference last may. One of the ladies in the audience was large. Her perspective before the conference was; in shape people are very selfish. In shape people are only thinking for themselves, look at how much time they spend on themselves being in shape. They could be using that time to be with family or friends.

It was a perspective that never occurred to me. She did eventually see if you can't take care of your self, you can't take care of others. But it was interesting, I always thought out of shape people lacked discipline, never thought of there perspective back at me.

Sunday

Up .6 pounds to 349.6

Monday

Morning appointment with my Doctor. Changed my blood pressure meds cause they supposedly weren't working (146/84 same thing as first appt) and added a low does of Lipitor for my cholesterol

Afternoon had the bariatric surgeon appointment. My doctor told me they did nutritionist and exercise stuff also. Wrong they only do that for the 6 month program you have to do to get insurance to cover it. So after my getting explained the program and them giving me all the info and dates for when I need to do stuff I left. And cancaled my next appointments cause I dont want to just jump straight to surgery. So now I'm looking for a registered dietitian to go to.

I think many of those people are also Extremely discouraged and/or depressed.

The big thing to me is going from 0 to anything is going to produce Huge benefits/results.

Joe Rogan said it in a podcast, give me 1 pushup, then tomorrow 1 pushup, and then next week 2 pushups...
The more often you choose the right turn in the right vs the wrong turn, you build on that success and it becomes easier to continue and/or implement new things, or try new things... and when you take the left turn, easy way out, skip a workout, it becomes easier and easier to miss and skip workouts.

As for being selfish, to me that sounds like a major excuse. It's better that your kids and family see dad, brother, etc... as a success, doing something for themselves, being healthy... a good role model. You can't help others if you can't help yourself.

Not to mention, find me the obese person who does nothing and then the active person, in general I'd say the active person is going to be in a better mood, have better relationships, friends, family, etc...

One thing that got me off MY AZZ, was I simply made the decision to get Healthy and in better shape, I didn't give myself a deadline, etc.., if it took 1 week, 1 month, 1 year, 1 decade, all I told myself, was I was going to do it and keep at it!

Also 1 of my goals was, I knew it is easier to Stay in Shape, than it is to Get in Shape.
Not to mention living a longer healthier life... more active into upper age.

PS- kind of an unintended side effect of me getting healthier, was I noticed a few friends and family members, start working out, or choosing to workout/get healthier themselves. Which was also a bit flattering.

Good Luck Y'all! You can do it!

I had 4 cow elk walk right in front of my 400 yard gong last night. Lots of elk this time of year.

it is funny on perspective, I was talking to the local rancher the other day. They are not a fan of all the elk in the area right now.
The rancher was telling me how this one spot will hold 6 of there horses for a summer, but cow elk gave birth there and never left. They had to feed the horses. Competition for food Is everywhere.

As long as the individual does not let the exercise or activity control their life and those of their families much in the way food does for others, there should not be a problem. (Competitive athletes or wanna-be's)
Choosing to eat healthy and workout one hour 4-5 days per week is not selfish, but mindful of taking care of oneself. It's called being responsible. The effect can be multiplied if you can involve others into a fun activity. Doesn't have to be lifting weights or running a marathon, but simply taking a walk or shooting hoops with the kids. Beats watching TV together.

Eating healthy, drinking enough water (not alcohol or soda), and getting enough rest are enough to get most folks into some reasonable form of being healthy. Seems simple to me. :D

Tuesday - chest and back.

This morning I set out to begin acclimating to my next race distance, wish I had realized I stoped just 1 tenth short of a half-marathon. Still gives me a good idea of where I stand among distance runners, which is definitely not my bag haha.

More of a recovery ride tonight

30 mins recumbent bike ride 10.31 miles

So after digging around and talking with the insurance company no luck on doing the register dietitian. I've talked to a few people that have had the surgery done. And considering starting the 6 month program in July of all classes for getting ready. I'm having a tough time going back and forth with this as I have struggled since I was in middle school with my weight. Been talking it over with my wife and man upstairs trying to figure out what to do
