For a group of fanatics, it sure seems pretty quiet the last few days? [emoji23]

Me and my hunting bud met at a local watering hole Saturday, in a snowstorm; maps, tablets, smartphone, past yrs WY Big Game guides- all strewn across the bar; to get it all figured out. And figured out we did! lol We got our 2 choices for type 6 tags selected. Now we wait...[emoji352]

I only have 8 elk points as a NR, so I am in no mans land. With the new changes with the credit card application fees, it will be just points for me. I have other states on my list that will have a higher priority.

submitted my application yesterday afternoon. Drawing either Alaska or WY elk will dictate the rest of my draw season.

8 points will get you into a LOT of units. If you think you're in no man's land, you better be willing to keep building up to 20-25 points because point creep ain't slowing down anytime soon.

I burned my points last year so no excitement this draw for me... unless someone is wanting to burn a bunch of points on a general tag. I'll gladly jump in with them if that's the case.

I burned up my 7 points last year, so point only option for me this fall. I wouldnt trade my hunt, but I sure do wish I had 8 points!!

I have 5 points and put in for a new unit. The one I used to hunt has gone up almost a point a year since I last drew. I don't think I'll catch it anytime soon so it's new territory for me.

Buddy I hunt with built a spreadsheet on the units we hunt and how many points it took every year from 2010 to now. It's depressing! I'm going to say heck with it and hunt where I can as I rotate through states and species. I like hunting units multiple times and that just isn't going to happen some places with point creep. I'm not getting any younger. I'm probably never going to get over 5 points for any species again without burning them after this round. I don't have over 6 for anything now.

mcseal, that seams to be the consensus of most hunters i know including myself. It will be interesting to see what future brings for sure.

More and more people are deciding they don't want to draw attention to their unit by talking about it on a public forum. This isn't the only forum where I see less talk about hunting and an increase in non-hunting chatter.

Yep; why some of the forum stats of late at times show all kinds of 'activity' with members reading/writing PMs...lol

I'm still deciding on what to hunt with my buddy. We have 4.5 points so its either we do the special for a LE unit that has some issues or try to get lucky in the random. Once we burn our points we will hunt the general from now on. Like others mentioned, I'm exhausted with all the research we have done.

What time is the deadline tomorrow?
