Was merely a matter of time my friend. Congratulations on your first antelope! Way to hang in there and get it done on leftover tags in a tough-to-hunt unit!
Its still sinking in that I actually did this; solo, 900 miles away from home, in some amazing terrain. I am indebted to everyone on the forum, past and present, for all the info shared over many years of threads. I learned so much out there. I have written a little diary of the hunt that gets into the play by play. I'm gonna hold off posting it til wintertime when most things slow down a bit. [emoji6]

Best we ever did was 18 antelope in 3 days. 6 tags each

When I first started hunting Wyoming you could buy up to 6 additional doe/fawn tags for antelope and/or deer. Back then if I remember correctly they cost $6.00 ea and you could buy them a local stores.

I remember going to the Brown and Gold in Rawlins on opening morning with my dad to buy tags for area 61 every year. He would buy 2 doe tags, we would drive out and shoot his does and be back in Rawlins within a couple hours. Times have sure changed...

I thought it was a bit more fun having to get within 45-70 range
Giving you guff. I've wanted to shoot one with my .50 cal pretty sure that would do the job. Just want to get within open sight range and go old fashion for fun

Hi All. First off, thanks to all the members for providing such useful info. I’m looking forward to now being able to post some info on WY antelope hunting based on experience.

Got this guy on a 2nd choice tag in WY on my first western hunt. While not a monster, I adhered to the don’t pass on the first what you’d shoot on the last motto. Did this hunt solo, and let’s just say the 19 hour drive, terrain, and hunters accusing me of trespassing and then molesting my hunt were a bit more daunting than I thought they’d be. I put 20 miles on my boots opening day before I had him in the back of my Camry. Can’t wait until the taxidermist calls to say he’s done.

Thanks again and good luck to all this season.

You know,I never thought other hunters would interfere with a hunt. Intentionally anyway. Good looking buck. I'd have shot him too.

Bob, 14 1/4" , 14 1/2" and yes with mass. I need to score him. I did a euro mount. I did score him and scored conservatively at 83.80"
