I've been on the fence awhile regarding gaiters. Should I get a pair or not? Tell me why I should buy some or why I should save my money.

personally worthless unless with snow, or you are trying to keep the seeds out of your socks on your low shoes.

I love mine. Wet dew mornings I have dry shoes, socks, pants. Crap doesn't get in my boots.

That said I wore them in MT, and CO, but in the desert conditions of Utah this year they stayed in camp.

Even if there is no snow gaiters will keep your pants from getting wet if you walk through brush or tall grass after a rain, heavy frost or dew in the morning.
They do also keep those seeds out of your boot laces.

Absolutely need them if you are hunting rough country. I have far less ankle and foot fatigue when I have mine on. The support they provide in ruff country and sidehilling make all the difference in the world. Also keep u dry and warm. No seeds either. Get some!

Love mine. I wear them dry or wet. They protect my pant bottoms and boots as well as protect from the elements!

I have heard many reasons to wear gaiters but ankle support is not one of them until now.

What kind of gaiters are you running that give ankle support for side hilling?

Yes, I wear them all the time. Now I had Kenetrek gaiters and the stitching on the straps failed while moose hunting in BC. Yes I had wet pants after that. I now wear KUIU's which are taller, fitter better and yes my lower legs are slightly warmer. If any of you have the Kenetrek gaiters take them to your shoe cobbler and have all the straps reinforced!

I could think of many reasons to where them
keep your legs warm and dry
keep your shoes from coming untied
keep ticks and bug from crawling up your pants
A few years ago i was hunting deer in the mountains close to my home while stalking a deer i was crawling threw the brush but as the deer was getting closer a 12' alligator lizard crawled up inside my pants all the way up to my junk it was a terrifying experince
Gaiters are good

I find gaiters to be hot and unnecessary in most conditions. However, I do use them when hunting on horseback or in the snow. So, depending on your hunts, I would buy a pair so that you have them when the situation calls for them....much like hiking poles.

Get good gaiters. Don?t bother with the cheap ones. They slip down and bunch up. I like one that have Velcro that run up the front of the gaiters. You can pull them nice and tight also the Velcro will keep them from slipping.

I agree. I have a pair but rarely wear them. They're good for the occasional deep snow here in Colorado but unnecessary most other times.
