"Old" Members Introduction (with pics)

I don't know how I've been missing this thread! It's a great one. Fun to see the faces behind the alias names and to learn about all you who have posted to this thread. I perhaps don't qualify as old member, based on number of posts, but I certainly do based on age. I think I've got you all beat so far.

My real name is Mike Trevor and my wife of 50-years and 11-months is Judy. We live on the outskirts of Helena, Montana not far from the Missouri River and it's reservoirs. In fact we can ride out from our home on BLM land to the "brink" overlooking Hauser Reservoir as shown in the two pictures posted below.

Hunting and fishing have been my passion since I was 6-years old or so. I'm finding it difficult to slow down, which my old body tells me me I must. Judy's passion is raising and riding our horses. She is retired from school teaching and I am retired from my administrative position responsible for Information Technology in Montana State Government.

Man do the years fly by! It doesn't seem that long ago that I joined here. Still check in nearly every day and still learn from others. Great people here.

Thanks for reviving this thread. It's great to find out more about the guys whose posts I read.

I just turned 62 and have a great wife and 11 grandkids, 8 of which live near us and 6 of which are boys, most of which are crazy about hunting even though they are 7 or younger, so mostly its just play until now. My wife and I got started young so we're young to enjoy all these wild & crazy grandkids. Below is a pic of the bedroom for the four boys my youngest daughter has. They had an artist paint it wall to wall with outdoor scenes (for $600 if you can believe that!).

I didn't grow up hunting and just got into it a few years ago. I'm the MRS editor for Eastmans' and the senior copy editor, though Griz handles the copy editing for EBJ. Being a whole lot newer to this pastime than most of you, I learn a lot from the staff at Eastmans' and from you guys.

Because of that, I''m kind of the different voice on staff for guys who are newer to the sport, who didn't grow up hunting and are more average Joes that are eager to learn and aren't triathletes. I love to learn more than about anything, so research doesn't seem like work to me.

When I'm not hunting or working for Eastmans', I manage investments for people and run company retirement plans as an independent investment advisor. I also teach at our church and have for many years, mainly on the Bible and answering difficult questions about the faith. I graduated from seminary a few years ago and have an MBA as well.

I think that the problem is that as we get older it takes longer to recuperate and while doing so we need something to do so there is this thing called the internet that Al Gore invented years ago.

I know that for myself after working outside all morning I need a cool drink and to sit down for a while to give my body a rest.

I also find that when I am hunting I go a lot slower and usually see a lot more game. But then I do something stupid and shoot a big animal that I need to work for 2 days to get out. I'll never learn.
