Well not enough ice to fish and a little bored here. Thought it might be fun to list our primary elk and/or mule deer rifles and their weights with scopes.

Total unloaded weight= 10 lbs 2 oz

During the build process my goal was under 10 lbs.......almost made it !!

Factory Model 70 Winchester 30.06. It has a Ram-Line synthetic stock that I replaced the original with(It broke in half through the hand grip after many years of use) It has a Leupold 3-9x40 Rifleman scope and some times it sports a Harris Bi-Pod I have no Idea how heavy, but I swear it gains weight by the end of the day. It is a deer killing machine given to me by my Dad when I was 12.

If I put on my Leupold VXIII 4.5-14 scope rather than the Nightforce, and go to a lightweight sling for a mountain hunt I can get the weight down under 7 pounds (without bipod).

Here are three that saw action last year. They all have the old Stoney Point rapid pivot attachment on the stock, maybe 3oz. I can snap in longer sticks for shooting while sitting and short ones (8oz) for prone.

Stock Tikka T3 lite SS 270 with a Leupold VX-2 2x7x33 CDS mounted on S&K rings and bases, with sling/ammo at 7.5lbs.

Rem 700 SS 25-06 with a 24" #3 Krieger barrel in a H&S Precision stock with a 3x9x40 Leupold on S&K rings and bases, with sling/ammo 8.5lbs.

Rem 700 SS 280 in an older light weight McMillian stock, 24" Brux #5, Timney, Vortex HSLR 4x16x44, EGW rail and tactical rings with sling/ammo 10 1/4 lbs.

We have two. A Ruger American in .308, and a Stevens 200 in .308.

Both have DNZ one piece mounts. Both have Leupold VX3 3.5-10X40.

Both weigh in at 7.25# on my fish scale. Unloaded with slings attached.

After looking at everyone else's, mine aren't too bad. Been toting the Springfield sporter around for over 60 years and it surprised me, it is the lightest of the bunch. The Ruger 25-06 was only sold with a 26" barrel which makes it pretty heavy, but it shoots 1/2" moa groups, so no changes to it. The.300Wby is great the way it is too. I'm 74 now, so maybe when I'm 80 I'll built a 7 pounder....LOL!

Not exactly a western long range rig, but it's a handy little guy. Built spikes tactical upper and lower. 16" ARP 6.8 spc barrel. Aero precision mount and a Nikon prostaff 3-9x40. Comes in at 7lb 11oz without mag.

It has a titanium break as well, I'll go back and edit my original post. The recoil is very mild. My wife and daughter both hunt with it. This past fall. my daughter (14 years old) shot a deer at 435 yards with it and also an elk. The noise is easy to deal with with foam ear plugs, recoil isn't.

You load your own bullets or shoot box bullet? Curious how your groups are at 600 yards and grain of bullet?
My buddy shoots a lot and recommend a 300win mag said 300wsm would wear throat out of barrel a lot quicker. I personally wanted a 300wsm.
