Will do. It will be a few more months unfortunately, but it is a price you pay for custom inletted, hand layed carbon fiber, painted just the way you want it. Stings the pocket book too, but it will be worth it.

Thanks.

That SMR is sweet! What kind of stock do they use? Manners makes a stock that has a similar profile, but is still pretty light. Have you decided on glass yet?
Yes I will have the Vortex Razor HD 5x20x50 with the EBR-2B recital and 20 moa turrets.

That's a sharp looking piece IKIC, MNHs too for that matter. Two totally different builds. Yours is going to be a little heavy IK, but good god it should reach out there and touch something haha. MNH, that's one light rifle you've built, and a great caliber as well. I like it!!

I would try to stay with a 168 gr bullet if it were me. Great BC and plenty of choices. I've killed a lot of animals with a Nos partition, though they aren't the most accurate bullet ever made, they are constructed well.

I can't get over the looks of the SMR.....super nice. And their prices are outstanding.

My .270wsm loves Nos Accubonds in 140 grain and the Hornady SST in 140 as well.

Yes at 10lbs it will be a bit heavy but not like some others I have. I was really considering the Savage Long Range Hunter. It's almost 9 lbs so I felt 1 lb wasn't much to sacrifice.

The cost difference is huge from the Savage to the SMR but for a fully custom rifle vs a high volume mass produced gun the cost for the SMR is very cheap compared to other customs.

These are some of the custom rifles of mine. the first one is a 6x47 lapua build off a remington action blue printed, abs carbon fiber barrel, manners stock and a primier heritage scope. Gun was built by nathan dagely @ straightshotgunsmithing.com.

The second one is my 300 rum also build off a remington action, mcmillian htg stock, abs carbon fiber barrel, and a leupold mark 4 scope built by nathan also.

The third one is another 6x47 lapua built by nathan built off a phoneix action now known as defiance actions, bartlein barrel, mcmillian stock with adjustable cheek piece and topped with a IOR scope.

The forth one is a semi custom sendero in a 300 win mag. Blue printed action helical fluted bolt, benchmarck barrel with interrupted fluting and a adjsutable carston cheek piece with a huskemaw scope.

You did right by skipping the Savage. As much as I like Savage, there's just no telling what you would have gotten. Could be a lights out sub moa, could be a 1.5"-3" gun. It will be worth it to know exactly what yours will shoot and what its capable of. Nice scope choice, one day I need to upgrade mine to a vortex. I love my vortex binos. Keep us posted on your progress.

MNH, I feel ya on the stock. I've wanted a McM stock for quiet some time. Just haven't been caught up enough to throw the cash at it since I built mine.

I'll have to weigh my rifle. I'm pretty sure its in the 9lb range. I have a #4 countout hart barrel on mine sitting in a laminate stock. Its not a bad carry really.

We are going to be taking two custom rifles to the range this week. One will be for the E-News and one is for the next issue of EHJ. I can't tell you guys what they are yet, but if you are thinking about a custom rifle these articles will be for you.

Good choices. The 6x47 is a nasty round.
