Looking for recommendations on meat processors near the Bighorn mountains, would probably be willing to go to Sheridan, Buffalo, Greybull or Cody. Casper is probably a bit of a haul, but it would be on the way home for the return trip.
We've got two elk tags, and will be hunting for two weeks. If by some miraculous miracle, we shoot one on the first day, I think we're going to need the services of a processor, to at minimum store the meat in a locker.
We've got several options other than using a processor, but shooting one really early in the hunt has me concerned.
I don't have a problem shooting one in the middle of the hunt, taking it to a hotel, butchering and vacuum sealing, and then either keeping on dry or wet ice for a week or so, but more than a week might get a little sketchy.
After the second elk is down,we'll quarter him, put him on ice, and head back to Missouri. But, what to do with the first bull has me a little concerned.
I may have enough room to bring a small chest freezer, and my generator, in that case, we could just run the generator on and off for the entire time, and just freeze the first one.

Anyone have any other thoughts, or can recommend a good locker to either cut up a bull, or just store it for us for a week?

Valley Meats in Dayton. One of if not the best processing place I have used. The cost was good, time was incredible, and I got alot of meat back.

I dropped a bull off when they opened on Thursday morning and picked it up first thing Friday morning before my drive back to Illinois
