Did anyone hear about the new "Reality?" show produced by the ANIMAL PLANET? Cameras following Wyoming Wardens on their quest to put an end to poaching! Sounds good huh? More G&F employees wanting to be silver-screen stars seeking out wrongdoers and arresting same? What the hell, does Wyoming feel the need to show Montana who the best actor Oscar in a wildlife series should go to? Wardens don't have enough to deal with, without this waste of time? Really? Anyway, It's on the Animal planet channel on Sunday Feb.15th. @ 7pm. Keep an eye-wash station close by.

Hopefully with the negative publicity surrounding the Montana version we won't have the same issue with Wyoming guys. I do think there is a positive aspect to these shows being produced. If poachers can see the lengths that wardens go to in order to catch them maybe some will be deterred... we can only hope.

Most all the Wyoming Wardens I have met in field and at the offices seem to be nice and professional, but I am in law enforcement and know that most people act a little different when they know they are being recorded. This is not a shot at the Wardens just saying that sometimes your product is different when you are going to be put on TV.

Wyoming has the most friendly wardens I have ever met.

Driving through a checkpoint at LaBarge or Big Piney they were great. "No no, don't open your coolers...Gotta keep that meat cold."

WY wardens are top notch.

LOL I had the same thing happen in Ten Sleep.

Ive interacted with wardens in the backcountry plenty. They come check meat, hunters, camp, etc...I am definitely a fan of all the ones ive interacted with. Never run into one who was out to "get" someone or write tickets. Just from the few who I have met, id be interested to know if the wardens had any say in doing this show or not, or the word came from higher up that they had no choice...cause that would be my bet.

Wyoming wardens have always treated me very good. My very first day hunting in Wyoming I committed a minor violation. I was 14 years old and left my hunters safety card at home. I was dressing my first doe antelope when the warden pulled up to check us. To make a long story short, he phoned someone who was in Laramie and had them drive to my house and get the card from my mom. They recorded the number and congratulated me on my first big game animal. The guy was super nice through the whole experience. His conduct in that situation actually made me want to pursue a career as a game warden. The introduction of this new show does make me wonder how that situation would have been handled with television cameras rolling over his shoulder...

Joe Pickett would have had a stern talk with you Hilltop, since he gave the Governor a ticket for fishing without a license! LOL

My experience with WY wardens has been great. They have also been the most helpful of the WY Game and Fish personnel when it came to general hunting information. I always call them first, when it comes to finding info about the unit I'm hunting.

Big Piney, La Barge and Kemmerer, Cokeville wardens are great! Pinedale and Daniel Jct check station not so much from all the stories I've heard. I think they all think they are joe. It's probably because he's 5'2" from what I hear

I have had nothing but positive experience with WYO wardens. Went through check station at Pinedale and they were very professional. Even gave me and my buddy pointers on where to look for elk!

Talked to a warden several weeks back as I was researching a unit. He wanted me to pull out maps and tell me where to hunt! I told him I needed to pull the tag first! He said when I draw, stop on my scouting trip and he will circle spots on the map.

Then again, everyone in Wyoming has been awesome!

Couldn't agree more on the previous positive comments about interactions with WY wardens. Especially one that also was easy on the eyes to look at! I could tell by her first name that her father was a waterfowl hunter.

I wrote some previuosly on Jim Latvala who had his elk confiscated in Montana for "failure to tag". That situation garnered a whole lot of negative publicity for the state. I had been looking at Montana for some tags in the future, but it is just drive-thru country to me now. I do wonder if the state gets any $ from the producers of the show. My only personal experience with Wyoming Wardens was at the Daniel check station a few years ago. All were curtious and professional. Of my phone contacts prior to hunting an area, the wardens were helpful and seemed very willing to help; even though they must be deluged with calls at their residence before the seasons start.
