Wyoming Application Process

Hey Guys, I was hoping someone can help me out on the application/preference point system in Wyoming. I am a non-resident with 6 PP's and am hoping to draw a 90-2 antelope tag this year. Looking at the draw odds, I should get it. I have been reading up that when you apply, you submit the $286 for the application fee and the tag itself, and if you done draw, then $272 is refunded to you (total amount-$14 app fee). I also see there is a $30 preference point fee you can submit as well as you are applying for you tag, which brings the total to remit up to $316. So lets say I draw and I purchased the PP option, do they refund that $30 and keep the other $286? Or do I just end up paying $316 for everything? Is it possible and would a guy be better off to not submit the PP money and if I didn't draw, just buy a PP when they become available?

Also reduced doe/fawn tag questions. So when I apply for 90-2, in order to get a doe tag, I also have to apply for 90-6 correct? Or are there usually leftovers? I don't want to apply for a buck tag, then add on a doe tag and not draw the buck, but end up with a doe tag. I don't really care to shoot a doe, but I thought it might be nice to have in case I get an itchy trigger and just feel the need to shoot one to get it out of my system.

Thanks for any help.

The preference point fee will be refunded if you draw the tag. There is a box you can check when applying for the doe tag that will only give it to you if you draw the buck tag. My buddy forgot to do that last year and ended up with a 55 doe tag but no buck tag- he wasn't happy.

And checking the "doe tag" box does nothing but enter you in the draw. You have no preference over anybody else. Also, the check box is tied to a full price tag so if you have a 1st and 2nd choice Buck on the app, you can draw the 2nd choice buck tag and draw the doe tag(s) in a different unit.

Hey guys, I'm going to piggy back this thread and see if I can get an answer without starting a new one. I did a Google search and didn't find an answer, and tried the search function here, but it gave me way too many hits.

Here goes: If my wife and I apply together as a party do we each receive a number in the draw?

I know we receive the same number, but is it entered two times? Like if there was a party of four, they would all receive the same number, but would it be entered in the drawing four times?

If there are multiple applicants on the group application then there is only one number for the draw issued no matter how many applicants.

I see. So applying as a group actually lessons the odds of drawing a tag? If we apply separately, we have two chances to draw versus one? Correct?

It doesn't lessen the chances of drawing a tag but if you don't mined only having one tag and hunting without your wife or your wife drawing and then you helping her when you don't have a tag.

For us one or two tags doesn't matter as much as having a tag. ;)
Yep in that case applying separately will be the best.

My wife and I often/usually apply separately. It's actually less stressful to have one tag and really be able to fully invest in that tag. When my wife has the tag I get to enjoy every part of the hunt, except pulling the trigger.

We had 5 tags last year including a Wy Antelope and a once in a lifetime Nv bear tag. I would much rather have one tag to fill and put all my time into one then have multipal tags.

I also would go with the special higher priced option if you really want the tag. I was suppose to have 100% draw odds to draw but still didn't.

Ugh. Not sure I can stomach paying $560 for a deer tag.

We will have SD tags this year for sure so I think we will just apply separately for WY and let the chips fall where they may.

Thanks for the help, guys.
