Ok thinking about an antelope hunt with some fishing involved!
Don't have a clue where to fish, if anyone can help me out that would be awesome, I do have 3 points, if I get a spot for fishing I can start on drawing odds. And if I have to just shoot Doe's and fish I'm fine with that too!

If anyone has some ideas where would be a good area to do both would be awesome. Preferably in the NE section of the state.
Thanks for any tips!!

Anywhere along the North Platte River would have pretty good fishing and hunting. I'm not familiar enough with the western part of the state to comment on that. If you hunt in October, you'll hit the brown trout spawn.

Thanks! Anyone know anything about 9 or 11 can draw quite a few along the Platte with 3, trying to find the best with 3 points?
I guess I forgot to add we will be camping

Take a look at area 50. Decent antelope hunting with river access. You are also a short drive to mountain fishing and an hour from the Laramie Plains lakes. Early October fishing is great and you typically have little competition. Most locals are trying to fill general deer tags at that time.

Ditto on 50. If you're camping, area 50 is a solid choice. I've fished Six Mile Gap a bunch. A ton of fun and BEAUTIFUL! I've seen some blue grouse along the river and I've bumped sage grouse while hunting unit 52, so you may want to bring along a shotgun too.

50 will have over 100 more doe tags this year and it is close to the Platte River, Savery Res.-tiger trout, and MBNF. Saratoga is close by for supplies and hot springs pool-free.

I believe you might also be able to catch some "toothier" fish up near the Bighorns, walleye and maybe a pike or musky in those reservoirs mentioned. These guys may know about them more. Some walleye fishing further south also. You should find good fishing almost anywhere you drop a line in.

Thanks for all of the tips guys!
I think we might pick an area by Buffalo, and camp by the base of the mountains. And do some fishing there, closer to home than the southern part of Wyoming.
Maybe 16 for some doe tags, still open to suggestions though!

I am going to plead ignorance and ask what a Tiger Trout is. Anyone have a picture of one?

They are a cross and can have more brown trout markings than brookies. Only one verified place to catch them in Wyo but I have caught some in a small creek not near High Savery.

Great thread, just wanted to thank all for sharing their ideas of areas to explore and the OP for setting it up. 😉 Commitments will allow me only 1 hunting trip (cow elk area 13), however, def planning a scouting trip this summer to get a feel for the area. Camping and fishing figure prominently ( Encampment river area). Glad to hear about Saratoga being mentioned. Me and the kids looked it up and were considering checking it out this summer.

Saratoga is pretty cool. I've been going there for 35 years. I can remember as a kid sitting in the hot springs for a while then running into the river to cool off. Your kids will love it. Some great fishing in the area- don't forget your poles and don't ignore the tiny creeks. Some of my best times fishing were in 12" wide creeks weaving through the willows.

Good choice I think. Pretty central to what it sounded like you were looking for, get the best of both the antelope country and the mountains. Good luck. I love where I am at, but yeah I would live in Saratoga again in a heartbeat. It is pretty awesome.
