If I have a type 1 tag in an area that issues type 9 archery tags, can I archery hunt the last two weeks of Sept.?
I believe the short answer is yes, but call the local g&f office to verify.
I ve been doing research also, as I drew unit 23 elk.

I applied for a type 1 tag. The outfitter I was in touch with recommended coming out during archery then again during rifle if the first hunt was unsuccessful. So I would say yes you can.

Different units are different. You need to look at the season regs for the specific unit you drew to see when/what/where/how you can hunt that unit.

I just found a link to the 2013 regs. Last year you could not hunt Unit 39 Type 1 during the archery season. Here is the link. Look at the table on the top of page 25:

https://wgfd.wyo.gov/web2011/imgs/QRDocs/REGULATIONS_CH7_BROCHURE.pdf

The table defines the units where archery season is allowed if you do not have a designated archery season tag, like a type 9 tag. It's not the most clearly worded thing I've ever read.

Units 37, 38, and 39 in the BigHorns have never had an archery season for a type 1 tag like a lot of the units allow. It's either draw a type 9 tag to hunt in September with a bow or if you want to you can use a bow on a type 1 tag during the rifle season in October.

kesand72---If you drew a 23 type 1 tag, you can buy the $35 archery permit and hunt that unit with a bow the entire month of September.

Nope, I cannot archery hunt the last two weeks of Sept. with my 39-1 tag. I could archery hunt during the type 1 season dates, though. I called the F and G office to verify, since the regs. are a little vague for this issue and area tag. Thanks for all the above replies. Note: half of you were correct, everyone do there homework.....
