1st off, Happy Memorial Day to All, and a special thanks to all our Men and Women in uniform that served our Country!

31 May is coming fast. I assume a guy has until midnite tmrw to apply-but maybe its midnite 2nite? I better check-anyone know?

For a nonres, other than peace of mind and saving $14/tah, is there any advantage to applying for a tag early that traditionally has leftovers? Does WY charge a fee on the leftovers negating the savings by not going in the draw?

I've heard many of the leftovers do go fast when they sell; that you better have a quick trigger and solid internet connection to seal the deal. 😉

What's everyone thoughts?

How do you save $14 per tag?

For me if I had a tag I wanted I would apply and get it asap. Traditionally is the key word. Just because there have been doesn't mean there will be.

I've read through some of those leftover race threads, sounds like a crap shoot.

I would never depend of getting a left over tag. As was mentioned they might be there and then again they might not.

I watched a lot of archery hunters in Utah that depended on getting a archery deer tag as a second choice and just getting point on their first choice, that was until all the archery tags started to go in the first draw leaving them sitting home.

I think the potential electronic horse race (in some units) to grab a leftover tag is what will push me to the camp of paying the $14 for the draw. 😃

To be specific, I'm just looking for antlerless antelope & maybe deer tags, no pref points involved in my business with the WY Game Commission-at least this year-other than buying some points. 😉

I already may be playing leftover electronic roulette to get a cow elk tag, if I decide to go for one.

As for the deadline, is it midnite 2nite or tomorrow nite?

Careful of the leftover cow tags. Most are in units that have very little public access. Area 6 always has hundreds left over but public access is small and hit hard.

Yepperz. Done about as much HW as a guy can on the cow elk leftovers-just w8ing now on the official list-started a thread seeking some advice a few weeks back and got some ideas. Was mostly looking at a handful of units with population issues that the Game Commision is providing some hunter assistance/landowner access programs-those are later hunts so weather could be a deal breaker. 6 is not on the list. 😉

Weather can most definitely be a factor. 6 in the past has had some access through G&F HMA. Make your calls early, don't wait til fall. Many landowners will allow cow hunting for free or pretty cheap.

Some one would actually not buy a tag over a $14 fee . What is this world coming too?...................BOB!
LOL When u have 6 kids, stay @ home wife, and thank the Lord, "Obamacare", every lil bit helps a brother out! 😆

Anyhow, I paid the $28 'fee' for 2 tags-will scrimp on guys night or eating out a few times-it all evens out.
