I currently am sitting on 9 points in WY and looking to go there in 2-3 years for Antelope. I have been doing some research and have an idea what unit to apply for, but would like some insight. I am not looking for a trophy, just a decent chance at a buck. Mostly I am looking for a unit that does not get mobbed on opening day ( if it even exists at all ), by restricting the number of tags available. I am also looking for a unit with decent public land. Does this unit exist ?

With 9 pts I hope you get a chance at a book antelope. Any unit can provide you with a decent chance at a buck. Check out the blue chip units in the MRS. I am too impatient to wait that long so will never have 9 pts, but a low hunter density is definitely achievable.

Bullcan- With that many points you definitely find a great hunt. You could likely partner up with another member here with area knowledge and the two of you draw a great area. Just a thought. 3-4 points will get you what your looking for.

You have 9 points and are in a good position. If you are not looking to bust your azz for a high end buck, stop collecting points and go hunt. My .02 keep your 9 points and draw any unit with historic odds for the points you are sitting on less point creep. There are lots of units in that group that will give you the hunt of a lifetime.

Can I ask why you waited for 9 points if your goals are much lower than a 9 point area?

Like Hilltop pointed out 3-4 points will get the hunt you described. I am sure a lot of guys will be happy to pm you about sharing your points .....

Main reason I have waited is lack of time. I just have not had the opportunity to take time off to get out west and do it. Plus, if you don't apply every other year you lose your points.

I do appreciate all of the input

I understand. Life gets in the way for sure. I just used some points for a mule deer hunt and definitely had more than needed. But, as I mentioned with 9 pts, you can just about have any unit you want with the exception of a few. A low pressure hunt with lots of antelope sightings can definetly be had.
