Hey folks, looking to possibly buy a muzzy this year. Been using a buddies gun, but decided I should probably just get my own. Looking for suggestions, pros and cons of each.

Needs:

Iron sight holes already drilled
Color isn't a big deal to me, but not a huge fan of blued in my humid environment
I would like to spend under $400 if possible

If I was going to get into muzzleloading again I would bite the bullet and buy the Savage 10 ML that uses smokeless or possibly one of the newer remington smokleless models. The states I hunt allow smokeless and I have no doubt it's better than the black powders and substitutes. Once you take all the ignition issues and constant cleaning away that black powder and it's substitutes can have it really would be a lot like a regular rifle hunt.

Probably about double your budget bit that's what I would do if I could do it all over and probably will at some point. None of my friends have muzzleloaders so having one to loan out would be nice if someone wanted to come along.

Most people don't know but there are some muzzleoader opportunities in WY from antelope tags just for muzzloloaders and a general deer unit that is set aside for muzzleloaders. Nebraska muzzleloader season is all of December as well.

I'll probably be the only person here who recommends something other than what they have which is a CVA accura BTW.

I would buy a CVA Accura or Optima. I have an Accura and it?s very accurate, feels good in the hand and did not break the bank.

Load it with XTP?s and blackhorn powder and go hunt!

Good luck!

Thanks HPH. I'll have to check the Savage out. My only issue is not being able to use that setup in Colorado. Can it shoot blackpowder and smokeless?
