When I was deer hunting last month about 30 miles north of Faith in South Dakota I was sitting on the top of a butte where I could see for miles. I was watching a whitetail buck walking through a creek bottom when all of a sudden he turned and took off running as fast as he could go. Right on his tail was what I thought was the biggest coyote I had ever seen. Pretty soon I saw another one, then a group of 3. just about sundown they all started howling. What I had actually been watching was a pack of wolves. I went to the same spot the next 2 days and saw them i the creek bottom both days. The first day I saw deer, both mule deer and whitetails all over the place. by the third day the deer were all gone. I was reading through the SD hunting pamphlet and it said that the US Fish and Wildlife has taken over the wolf management in SD, who put them on the endangered species list. I sure hope the ranchers start SSSing.
