Ha. I assumed there wasn't enough water in WY to have many birds. Don't worry though. I live in ND so I won't be going down there to hunt birds.I will keep that one close to the chest![]()

I wouldn't worry. There will always be birds in South Dakota in March. It happens every year, the weather warms up and the front edge pushes hard. Squaw loads up and everyone gets all hot and bothered. Then some major spring storm rolls in and stalls out the migration. This is not what I wanted to hear! I have plans to be in South Dakota March 19thru the following Friday . It seems we might miss the migration?
I'm a river rat, there's enough birds here at the right times to keep a guy's shotgun warm on the coldest days. And yeah, I wouldn't trade ND for WY in terms of waterfowl, so with that said I am comin' your way!Ha. I assumed there wasn't enough water in WY to have many birds. Don't worry though. It's always a bit surprising to hear areas that have some good duck hunting. Maybe not all fall but at least at times.I'm a river rat, there's enough birds here at the right times to keep a guy's shotgun warm on the coldest days. This is true. I try really hard to tag out early so I can work the ducks. There's not tons by Dakota standards but enough to keep you as busy as you want to be.Plenty of good waterfowl in Wyoming. I used to love the years I filled my mule deer tag with a bow so I could hunt hard the first two weeks of October for ducks and geese. Most days I felt like I was the only guy hunting them.
What pat of ND are you from? It's always a bit surprising to hear areas that have some good duck hunting. Maybe not all fall but at least at times.
If you ever head to ND, let me know. I could tell you some areas to look at and also avoid.
Here we can hunt October until the split, then the season picks up again in November and runs through mid January. It's a nice season all things considered, though I would personally like to see a few changes. I hear we have a new waterfowl biologist so maybe we will see some of those changes. One of the things I miss most about duck hunting back in my home state of Arkansas was the season dates. Duck season starts in late Nov. and goes through late January. That freed up October and November for deer season

Missouri doesn't do splits, instead we have 3 zones. Our North Zone goes 10/31-12/29, middle goes from 11/7-01/05 and our south zone runs 11/26-01/24.Here we can hunt October until the split, then the season picks up again in November and runs through mid January. 86 days of duck season plus 16 days of teal season.. Kinda gets in the way of everything else. I need more vacation.
