I love to hunt upland and waterfowl but it is all secondary to big game for me. I have a good friend that only hunts waterfowl. About ten years ago he was feeling the way you are so he decided to hunt them year round- with camera only during the offseason. He has had numerous pictures published since. He said he honestly gets as much out of a great photo as he does a limit of geese... food for thought. Maybe you need a nice camera.

I had very little opportunity due to building a new house this fall, so I only made it out to a local state wildlife area twice in January. Hunting was poor both days, and I didn't kill a single duck. No withdrawals for me since it's time to think about plans for spring bear, but I'll be ready to go again by next fall.

I did decide that it's time to find a youth/compact shotgun so my kids can come along and hunt with me. Seems like tax refund season always makes me want to go gun shopping. :)
