I've change breakfast and lunch and halved my calories there. That was easy. Dinner is harder to go light on. I've been lucky enough to mix my walking in with work. I walk doing all my rounds and inspections instead of taking the truck. It helps that our facility is several miles long. I got in a little over three miles today.

Bumping up the pack poundage for tomorrow mornings 4 mile hike to 70lbs. 10 pounds more than I have been packing on these hikes. Had a great leg and lower body workout at the gym tonight. Starting to count it down guys. Looked at the calendar and in a few days we will be inside 5 months!!! Woohooo!! Saw a great shirt at the gym tonight.

"UNLESS YOU PUKE, FAINT, OR DIE FROM EXHAUSTION YOU MUST KEEP PUSHING ON!!"

Thought it was motivating.

Well, test #1 is tomorrow.. headed to Silver Falls State Park. There is a 9 mile loop that covers 10 of the waterfalls. Last year I was left gasping at the end. Not too much elevation on the trail and I'll only be carrying around 5-6 pounds of camera gear and lunch with me. Going to be nice to do it and not be dead at the end.

30.9 miles running last week. Thought I was fully recovered from my 50 mile race a couple weeks ago, but ran a 6 mile race and my legs told me otherwise. Finished about 15 seconds off the pace I was expecting to run.

More work around the house for cross training. Going to try to get in some mountain trail running this week.

I am just really trying to mix it up this year. Still working at the gym hard but doing some different types of lifting along with cardio. The gym can get a little redundant at times. the days I don't workout I have been doing more trail running. Really not concerned about speed but concentrating on balance and consistency. Also bumping up the weight on the pack-outs is really helping out with the legs and cardio. Having fun this year training that's what it is all about.

Well....test #1 went really well. We did the hike, I ended up with about 10 pounds in the daypack after we added water and a lunch. There was more up/down than I remember but it was pretty easy. We took our time stopping at the falls for photos and took about a 20 min lunch. When we were done I actually felt like I could do more....and on Sunday I wasnt even sore..... So overall I am pretty happy with my progress over the last 4 or 5 months.

Now if I can just do that at 8500' and with a deer on my back :)

Ran a few miles this morning behind the house. 75* and 75% humidity. I hate it when it does that. Supposed to be 90 here today.
