no. MANY OF MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY TO THAT, I tend to focus on only the one thing I am hunting on any given day.
that is of coarse concerning big game.

when predator hunting ,I focus on predators. and when bird hunting I focus on birds.

have missed out on some opportunities over the years because of this but it's just the way I roll.

lol. reminds me of a hunt I brought my nephew on. we were hunting elk . he had tag,I did not,
we ran across some bobcat tracks in the fresh snow. he was excited and asked ," if we see it can I shoot it?"

I answered,"it's open and it's your hunt . if you want to ,go ahead." about ten minutes later ,I poked my head over a rise and saw a big bull elk. I quickly ducked down and told him, " there he is!"
my nephew said," the bobcat!"

I answered , "no man, it's a big bull . forget the stupid bobcat , we're elk hunting!"
Yup, focused intensity!

Great story, he will go a ways to better that 330 and I hope he learned a lesson.

I would say Elk. I have been hunting them since the 80s and it never gets old. I am in my 50s now and a bit slower but much smarter when I hunt them!!

Mule Deer

I like the time of year we hunt for deer, I love the terrain and it's just my thing. I like a big bull but a big buck just gets my heart pumping.

I like to hunt both, and I like to hunt by myself quite a bit. I'd say Mule Deer because I can pack one out in 2 trips by myself usually, not so much with an elk, unless I shot a calf.

I choose elk. I have a hard time staying put and glassing big country. Elk, being more visible but often harder to get to, are more conducive to my kinetic hunting style.

Kind of a hard one for me. Since I started bow hunting I've been up close and personal with both. Both give me a good rush, but a big muley makes ice water in my vanes. I guess that settles it....mule deer.

I guess it would be elk for me.
They provide a lot more meat per animal and I like the taste a little better than deer.
A huge bull is also just such an impressive looking animal, really beautiful.
But like most folks here I love hunting both so I'll choose elk over deer, but only by a slim margin.

I suck at hunting Mule deer. Elk are by far more fun to hunt in September than Mule deer are the first week of October.

Based on kill percentage...I am a way better elk hunter. Based on true trophies, well about even. But, I feel like a 200 inch plus buck is the hardest, most sought after trophy animal in NA. Challenge accepted!
