My custom 264 has gotten the call so far. It is a stainless Winchester M70 classic action with a Mcgowan 25" #3 fluted barrel, Wyatt extended magazine box, and a 4-12 Leupold VX-R CDS scope. I have 2 stocks for it depending on the situation. A walnut thumbhole stock for whitetail around home and flatter country, and a lighter Bell & Carlson synthetic for steeper country. It's no featherweight at 9lbs 3oz with the synthetic ready to hunt (scope, sling, ammo) but it sure shoots well and I have faith in it. I have studs for the Stoney point rapid pivot bipods on both stocks. I load 140gr accubonds at 3000fps and they perform excellent, but I am still experimenting with the 140gr Bergers looking for a load. I'm still considering buying or building a lighter rifle in 280AI for the steep country but haven't done it yet. The Kimber 84L Montana in 280AI has been tempting me.
