What would be a good round to take a yearling Bison

Shoot what you have been shooting.

A friend took a full size cow bison on a Utah hunt shooting a very similar load.

Your good with what you got. Make a good shot, and its over. Good luck! Bison is one thing that I hope to hunt soon.

That would work, but in 30-06 I'd want 180, 200, 220, but a yearling won't require as much.

Dad took his with .340 wby 275gr., wasn't a yearling though.

I think 180 premium bullet would be ideal from a 30.06

What you are shooting will work fine. If you are looking to make a change however- I love a 165 grain in the 30-06 personally. The 165 hits the sweet spot between flat trajectory and maintained energy down range.

Perfect round, but I've had bad experience with some core lokts separating. 150gr Barnes ttsx would be my choice. Yearling bison should be similar in size to beef of the same age, I'd guess 500lbs or less. There is a lot of good fantastic meat there, go for a headshot.
