I'm in the market for a new tent. So for those camping/hunting/fishing trips that are not a bivy type pack-in adventure what tent do you use for 4-6 guys and all the equipment that might come with and would you recommend it?

I have been using the Cabelas Alkanak for a few years at elk camp. Not mine I just help set it up and take it down and sleep in it. I really like it and have considered gettting myself one. I think it weighs like 35 lbs and takes a few minutes to set up with 2 people.

I currently use the Alaknak from Cabela's as well, 9.5' x 9.5' model. I like everything about it, from the easy set up to the tent stove space. I only recommend using this size with 2 folks and the tent stove if your winter hunting, maybe 3 folks during warmer months. I haven't had any issues with condensation. Depending on your budget, I would look into the 12' x 12' or even the 12' x 20'.

I have a Montana canvas company tipi! It is awesome! Can stand up in it and has plenty of room for guys and gear. Down side is they are expensive.
I was seriously considering getting the same tipi tent when I found a 10x12 Montana canvas wedge tent in the bargain cave at Cabelas considerably cheaper. I had been saving points for a while and I walked out of Cabelas with a free tent and wood stove for it! I really like the wedge tent. Its easy to set up and the steep A-frame design sheds water very well. Last November I went hunting and realized I forgot all the tent steaks when I went to set it up. OOPS! But you always have to forget something and there are worse things to forget right. lol I put chains tools coolers rocks anything I could find that was heavy around the edges of the floor inside and tied the top down good and it did fine even in some big gusts of wind the first night.

I have a 14x16 davis tent. Got one hell of a deal & bought a package deal that came with a tent, floor, stove, and angle pieces. Like it so much that I will get a smaller 12x14 for a cook shack.

I have the Davis tent as well. I have the 17x14. Great tent! We got the extra set of angles and got a big tarp for a cook shack.

I use the Cabelas ISQ tent. They don't make them any more but more or less identical in design to the alaknak. Great buy for the tent you get!
