Drew late season archery tag in tbe rubies. Hoping to make the drive for a weekend scouting trip. My plan is to eat, sleep, and breathe ruby mountain mule deer. Sleep in the mountains hopefully in cold and snow and try to arrow a respectable buck. Expectations are for a buck around the 150+ mark.

17 archery deer, 2nd year in a row with this tag. Learned a lot about the area last year and had a frickin blast packing in. Three of my good buddies drew the tag as well so I'm excited. Probably one scouting trip to check out some unfamiliar parts of the unit. Will be mostly weekend hunts since it's reasonably close.
Also drew 111L rifle elk, can't contain my excitement on this one because my dad drew the same exact tag. Dad grew up in the area and have a lot of family there so will be out for at least 2 scouting trips I'm sure. Season runs through Thanksgiving which sucks but will be able to get 6 days of hunting in before I have to be back and if need be I will take off again Fri after thanksgiving.
My pops also drew a great antelope tag and a rifle deer tag so I am in for an exciting fall! Can't frickin wait!!

The question has been asked in the Nevada forum, "What did you draw and what's your strategy?" My answer is:

1. Not a thing in Nevada.

2. Hunt a different state this year, and apply again in Nevada next year.

Thank you,

UH

D. Family vaca in Florida, wife has given the blessing of bringing home a dead gator.
I've been getting the itch to go to Florida, smack an Osceola turkey, then run an arrow through a gator... But, spring gator hunts seem to be a little more difficult to come by. Which is probably a good thing, cause I've also been wanting a pair a gator boots, made from a gator that I wacked.

Back to the topic at hand: I neglected to apply in Nevada, therefore, drew no tags.

Drew area 7 archery buck deer, will make minimal scouting trips since I know enough of the country to fling arrows. Also drew 6 rifle cow elk, again not too many scouting trips since I know plenty of locations to drop one. Unexpectedly drew UT bull, so all my time will be in NW UT learning roads, ridges, waterholes, draws, etc.....Will be spending all available work time on Google Earth mostly in UT but will also look around areas 6 and 7 for new territory. Once it starts, it will be a fast paced exciting hunt!! Best of luck to all that drew!

MM ( aka Keystone) I don't have a goat tag so I can't "legally" snag your hog tied booner!
I would though!!!!!!

I drew a 17 archery buck tag for the second year, found some honey holes (near a little rock and a big tree) and plan on packing in a couple days early. Last year I was being pretty picky (spike or better) and didn't seal the deal. This year I could use some meat in the freezer so anything is fair game, but there are a couple that I hope to encounter again. Taking my dogs with me due to all the lion sign, might have a chance to get after a cat in the 10 days I have planned.
My buddy drew the same unit muzzleloader so I'm supposed to find the 36" toad while I'm there.
Then it's bears!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Doesnt mean you dont know someone with a tag for my unit!!! LOL You might get a deer if you would stop being so picky. Spike or better, thats some hardcore stuff!HAHAHA!!!;)

Congrats on your draws. Nv is a tough draw, but with patients, pts., and luck it's doable every few years for one of the many species available.
I drew a NV late unit 101-109 archery deer hunt this year. So far, I've had better success than usual at drawing this year. Due to other hunts and distance from this area I will probably not be able to scout before the hunt starts. Should be alright as that it occurs during the rut and bucks will behaving differently than earlier in the year. I will contact the biologist for this area, request references of past hunters from Huntin' Fool [must be a member], and ask for advise from my fellow members of this forum. I will also resource Nevada's "Wildlife Water Developement Atlas" for possible guzzlers and other water sources in case there is a shortage of water. I will try to determine a few good areas to get started on from all this gathered info, make topographical maps [for use with a GPS] and last, but not least, practice shooting with my bow a lot.
I hope this info was helpful and good luck. Remember "the harder you hunt, the luckier you get".

I drew area 6 early archery deer. Not knowing this area at all my strategy is to spend as much time scouting maps and google earth as possible. I made the 9 hour drive this last weekend to learn some area. Seen a lot of bulls and 6 four point bucks! My hope is to make it back one more time in late July and than come back in August and hopefully arrow a respectable buck! I will be hunting for 10 days.
