Owners of elk mountain tents, do you have any feedback on your tent, good or bad? I am looking to get a bigger wall tent and elk mountain seems to have a good thing going, especially for the $. I know they are made in China, but so is the canvas that all the other companies use anyway....

Sorry if this should be posted somewhere else here, but I really wanted as much feedback as possible. Thanks for any and all input.

Take it for what its worth.....2c.
The poly blend tents really lose their heat quick and IMO are better suited for early season hunts. Just something to consider. How big a tent are you looking to get and what made you lean towards Elk Mountain? In my limited experience with them they seemed to be built like one of those rental/tents/shelters you see at weddings.

Looking for a 14x16 class tent, I have a 10x12 from my grandpa from ww2, its just not big enough. I am waiting on a material sample from elk mountain, but it's pure poly, not a blend. Just saw the company doing some general ween searching. Features for the price, they look good. Hoping somebody here actually has put hands on them, not too many wall tents here in Ohio. ... Thanks for the help.

That was based on having hands on twice in the field.

If you are you looking to pass this down to the kids and or other family members I'd recommend as the best $ saving option/bang for your buck.....get a 10z canvas off Craigslist.....plenty of them on there all the time. Below is just Denver and CO Springs searches

Ditto on Davis Tents in Denver. Look at their sale stuff next summer. Got a 12x14 with fly and frame angle kit all under $800 on a summer sale one year. They are well made and the company is good to deal with.

my 2 cents. I have been on an ice fishing trip with two different tent setups. The first time we slept cold 11 below in a winter weight Mt Hardware tent. We ate and hung out in an old 1960's era canvas wall tent with a wood stove. The best thing about the tent was that the door was just two flaps that overlapped to close. I was simple and great. There was no floor and this turned to ice after a few days. We were to allowed to cut spruce bows to put on the floor this would have worked well.
The second time we did this trip we used a Cabelas synthetic wall tent where we ate and slept. The main hassle were the zippered doors they were a real pain in the ass. I would look for a tent that didn't use them. It was nice to be warm in the morning but I was fine sleeping without a stove. And I would say no to the floor If you can use spruce or fir bows. We did burn a couple of holes in the roof. but they were minor. We just used a cheap sheet metal stove and it heated fine. We did get a snowmobile stuck in an alder patch that was a BITCH to get out but that's a story for another day. Good hunting to all.
