The WIAs are a great program; and I know I speak for the majority of hunters in expressing our gratitude to WY G&F, conservation groups, and most importantly the landowners for providing this opportunity to open up lands for hunting. I believe the powers to be put sincere and serious effort in identifying high quality areas for these opportunities. 👍

Living here and traveling all over the state I get to see the WIA and HMA's before season. Few and far between that aren't worth your time to hunt. If there's very low amounts of public they do get hit pretty hard and by seasons end definitely don't hold animals like before season. If I was planning my hunt based on hunting access strictly to one of these 2 programs and there's want lots of land, I'd road scout a day before season, and be where I need to be as the sun comes up the first day of season. The more land there is, the less important this becomes.

Last fall on my son's antelope hunt, everyone and I mean everyone was pounding the walk in properties. By noon on the first day i told my son lets go south and try the blm and national grass land property. We had thousands of acres to ourselves for the most part and there where antelope running all over the place. i thought it was interesting that everyone must have assumed that the walk in must be the best place to hunt. I have hunted lots of walk in properties in Wyoming and my experiences have been basically the same as those already stated here. There are some very good ones and some not so good but I am very grateful for the program.
