Walk in areas

I went to review the walk in areas in the unit I hope to draw. The Wyoming site states not able to view. They are under review. When do they become official and is there many changes from year to year?
That could really change the unit I applied for if some were removed. The unit could go from very limited access to almost none. Seems like that could be finished prior to draw date.

I know the access yes guy, or former one, and talked with him about that very thing, getting them signed up before the draw. Time is the issue I believe.
Some will change so be ready. However, we may get some new areas.

I talked to the Warden in the area I plan to hunt about this very subject. He told me the WIA I want to hunt is under contract, but could change at any time, even up to a few days prior to season opening. The land owner apparently can void the consent at their choosing. I guess you take your chances.......

There are a few hundred acres of State land to access. Question can a hunter walk down interstate right of way to access State land.

I have done it 20+ years ago without issue but have no idea if it was legal.

Legally the answer is no, but if your vehicle happens to break down where all you have to do is hop a fence who knows? But then your vehicle just might get towed.

I know that here in Colorado lots of bow hunters will park their vehicles on the side of I-70 and then wander off into the wilderness deer and elk hunting. Are they breaking the law by parking in these areas? The answer is yes but most of the state troopers look the other way. But then all it takes is one and you'll come back to no vehicle.

I have on 2 occasions called the local county HP office, and specifically asked them if I could pull over all the way to the fence off the Interstate, hop the fence, and hunt a land locked piece of public. Both times they told me yes, have at it. I logged the date, and timeof the call, the commander I talked to, and went hunting.

Sometimes you just have to ask.

As to walking down a highway right of way, that is absolutely legal in Wyoming. If parking in right of way go_deep has it right and I have done it several times without calling. If you park safely by the fence, out of the way, not causing any hazard, the troopers don't care. Takes 72 hours to get towed in Wyoming unless the vehicle is a safety hazard.

If you want them to know what you are doing, put some hunter orange on the dash. They are smart guys.

The area I was looking at I could park safely out of the way on an off ramp then walk about 300 to 400 yards down the right away along the fence line to access the State land.

Are any of those changes in the Laramie Range/Shirley Basin/Shirley Mountains area?

I believe they will all be updated and available to review sometime before july 10th. At least that's what G&F site says.
