How doable would a henry mountains bison hunt be as DIY hunt?

Is much of this land public?

Could one do this hunt as a hike in without horses etc...?

Can locating Bison be difficult?

Very doable if you have time and get some scouting in. Plenty of public land. The hunting part can easily be done without horses. Not too sure on the packing it out part. Those are big critters.

HM, it is very doable. This is all BLM land and they do not have as many restrictions so it might be possible to shoot it and drive very close and then get the 7 men and a boy to load it up. Lots of roads- very very desolate though. Good luck and God bless

They are too big to deal with solo in my opinion. I had to get a long ways in from the roads to find a bull in 2000 as cow season was first before the bull hunt. My buddy went along to help and we spent a full 24 hours after the kill (bowkill) before he was all at the truck. Solo would have been bad in the warm weather we had that year. You might get lucky and get one near a road but we never saw a bison anywhere near or road, and no tracks crossing the roads either.

This would be a future hunt, no tag in hand.

I think it might be nice to hunt them on my own, or my group/partners etc... and then get some kind of help on the removal from the field part.
