Anyone ever hear of anything like that? radio/call a helicopter to come pick up your bison....maybe elk.... moose?

Only thought was that for a solo or 2 guys DIY bison etc... in remote areas, it could really help getting your animal back to town.

If I had a helicopter come into the basin I was hunting to pick up another hunters elk that he was too lazy to pack out...to say I would be pi$$ed off would be an understatement.

But that would be my luck.

Actually, my luck would be I had spent 10 years getting points for the area, something would fall out of the chopper and hit me on the head, and all of the animals would run over the top to the next unit.

Pretty standard.

A Canadian hunter shot a giant bull moose on an island a few years back during a warm spell, and hired a chopper to fly it out to prevent spoilage. It's also common in New Zealand, especially for government stag shooters.

I hear ya, I'm mostly thinking if a DIY Utah henry mountains bison hunt... if you only had 1 or 2 guys total, packing out a bison... perhaps an outfitter would do a tag n drag kind of thing....

A few years ago Ike and I were hunting the high country, bull at 60-70 yards and we had a stalk blown by a search and rescue helicoptor.
