unit 57 colorado, muzzleloader

was supposed to get a point and now i have a tag for unit 57 colorado muzzloader, any info on this unit, best bugle and cow call, good place to stay or camp or best processer if i get lucky,i pretty much need the whole works, thanks in advance for any help mike

hi been getting eastmans hunting journal for years thought i would try the forum

Never hunted it...thats over in Old Hunter's neck of the woods. Bet he has some ideas.

Not really. I've only hunted 57 on private land on the extreme north east part of it for deer. (voucher) Never smelled elk there until past the 4th season. I'm always in 481 for elk.

We near there in 2008. Some very nice bulls are killed in 57 every year. My advice for unit 57 would be to look near the water sources.

I'm sure you know about the GMU specific tip sheets the Division of Wildlife posts, but just in case:

It includes maps with seasonal concentration areas and migration corridors for deer and elk. Even has a link to meat processors.

trapper57 that is my old stoppin grounds before i moved to alaska. I go back there every 3 years or so to hunt. Usually kill a 5 point or better on public land,,,plus one of my High school buddies is the game warden in the unit. PM me & i'll point ya in the right direction but won't give away my best honey holes.

i did read the guide and it does give you some general info ,hope there are some elk to here them bugle , will have a week to find them, it will be great to just be out there in the mountains in the fall,
