That's pretty cool. If it weren't for the tarps, you might never know it was there at all! I'd be a little spooked to go inside, figure a boobytrap shotgun would be waiting for me as soon as i opened the door..View attachment 22017
I may have shared this photo before..
Discovered this while Elk hunting back in 2002.
It is a fully working cabin with propane, fireplace, sink, bunks, food cache, dishes, etc etc...
4 miles from the nearest road in Colorado.
On public land....made from public land trees...
We were sitting by it for an hour before I ever noticed it.
Rumor has it that the forest service had tried to find it many times to destroy it.
Pretty sure it was the outfitter that used to be in that area as there were ancient pack trails (Hard to follow in today's time) leading to the meadow right next to it.
You dont come across something like this every day. Normally they get discovered and destroyed.
Years later I discovered where an outfitter had left a cache of goods under an army tarp and then covered in in camo netting. Everything was in tupperware containers. Chainsaws, fuel, cots, sleeping bags. All left on public ground for years. Untouched.
Funny you mention that. We pushed the door open with a stick from the side. lolThat's pretty cool. If it weren't for the tarps, you might never know it was there at all! I'd be a little spooked to go inside, figure a boobytrap shotgun would be waiting for me as soon as i opened the door..
I have also found one of those before. I do believe there are more out there than we realize. The one I found was pretty new.View attachment 22017
