Here's a Golden Eagles nest with a shed antler in it. This was in western Nebraska were sticks were few and far between, I'm sure they just thought it was another stick to add to the nest.

COLORADO 2009 010.jpg

I may have shared this photo before..

Discovered this while Elk hunting back in 2002.

It is a fully working cabin with propane, fireplace, sink, bunks, food cache, dishes, etc etc...

4 miles from the nearest road in Colorado.

On public land....made from public land trees...

We were sitting by it for an hour before I ever noticed it.

Rumor has it that the forest service had tried to find it many times to destroy it.

Pretty sure it was the outfitter that used to be in that area as there were ancient pack trails (Hard to follow in today's time) leading to the meadow right next to it.

You dont come across something like this every day. Normally they get discovered and destroyed.

Years later I discovered where an outfitter had left a cache of goods under an army tarp and then covered in in camo netting. Everything was in tupperware containers. Chainsaws, fuel, cots, sleeping bags. All left on public ground for years. Untouched.

That's pretty cool. If it weren't for the tarps, you might never know it was there at all! I'd be a little spooked to go inside, figure a boobytrap shotgun would be waiting for me as soon as i opened the door..

Just got back from a pre-season scouting trip. First fun find, Winnie the Pooh! Yes, this is a huge bear scat pile with a ton of dead bees in it. Must have just raided a hive:

Picked up this guy on a trail cam I left out all winter. I tried out those Lithium AA batteries in it and was very impressed. Placed the cam on Dec 3. 2017 and it didn't die until August 15, 2018!

This was fun. The same trail cam picked up a herd of cows over a period of several weeks. The area is full of BLM land where the ranchers lease grazing rights. Very clear brand on this one. It does make scouting challenging though, because the game trails get shared by elk, deer, cows, and anything else that wants an easy path:

Same cam picked up a ton of cows and other things. Personally, I think if you're going to be in an area more than once in your life, even a $50 cam can give you super valuable data. I've never had one stolen. At least here in Colorado, folks are spread out enough that even in an active area they're super hard to find unless you know exactly where to look for one.

We came across a bull that had fallen in an old mine vent shaft and died. The upper half of the body was still suspended and everything below the rib cage had fallen to a depth beyond what we could see.

Bears had been clawing the sides trying to get to the bull. You can see their claw marks in the dirt.

DWR saw my picture on another forum and went to find the bull and plug the shaft. They found a poached bear nearby and used the information on trucks we had seen nearby to look for the poacher. I never heard back if they caught anybody for it.

I have also found one of those before. I do believe there are more out there than we realize. The one I found was pretty new.

On my first try at using a trail camera, I set it away from any known trail and I captured this little brown bear. Then a young bull moose.

The next photo was of a very large woman wearing extremely tight spandex. No clue who she was or why she was there but it was the last thing I expected to photograph!! I named her the "forest nymph" but I didn't save the image. In fact, I'm still trying to erase it from my mind!

I moved the camera but it was stolen soon afterwards.

Here's the little bear.

I may have shared this before, I cant remember.

We found this downed aircraft in Northern Alaska. We landed the chopper and checked it out.

Heard about the back story later from a local in town.

I lopped the steering wheel and the tip of the propeller off with a hacksaw and incorporated it into the table I built out of the moose horns I found about 15 miles away.

Found this nearby as well. Abandoned.
