I have used them for the military prior to high elevation deployments. They work pretty well. I would recommend using it for cardio and during strength training. Better tool for increasing resistance than a weight vest (bad for joints). You need to keep using right up until you leave. Your body will revert back pretty quickly. If you have any respiratory issues you should talk to a doc first, they can cause problems.

I wouldn't worry at 10000, not that I have extensive high country hunting background, but I did some very intense hiking at that elevation this summer alone, and while it wasn't the same as back home in ND, it wasn't enough of a difference to change your workout routine for.
